Publisher's Summary
When a London businessman retires early and buys a Tudor mansion, he’s quite surprised - and perhaps even a little pleased (retirement being pretty boring) - to find a skeleton hidden in a secret room in the house. The skeleton appears to be more than 150 years old, so the local police leave it to the homeowner to solve the mystery. The police are much more interested in solving a local, modern murder. Somehow the two deaths are connected.
First published in 1967, this is Aird’s only non-Inspector Sloan mystery, and a complete triumph.

A Perfect Mystery!
I was so glad to see that audible had made the most contagious game available! It is my favorite of Catherine Aird’s novels. Written with both gentle sensitivity and complex plotting, and a great understanding of human nature. I highly recommend it! And the narration is excellent.

Good
Should satisfy any fan of English village murder mysteries. This is improved by a big dose of English history. One or two charming characters, the rest are nothing special; gender roles are very dated. A lot of obvious plotting, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

What a delight!
I'd never heard of Catherine Aird before, but read about her mysteries in the excellent book blog "Thornfield Hall" (the only one I read, and I highly recommend it).
A Most Contagious Game is a wonderful mystery with engaging characters, family secrets, religious history, an ancient corpse, no sex, and hidden rooms. And just an occasional touch of understated humor.
Derek Perkins' narration is exquisite.
We have a week of thunderstorms coming up. I'm going to go find another mystery by Aird.

Hatred
This has been a wonderful book to read. Catherine Aird writs the best mysteries with the least amount of terror. I engage my mind throughout. Lots of fun and so interesting

Good listen from a book that was a good read!
Of course, it always helps to start with a good book, and Aird’s rather unusual mystery provides excellent characters in an enjoyable plot. The reader gives life to the characters, the locale, and the search for answers to solve an old mystery, as well as a modern one.
