Publisher's Summary
A Most Haunted House is the worldwide best seller based on a true and terrifying account of an aggressive haunting in a small Welsh town. Seen as controversial and sparking debate between skeptics and believers alike due to the ferocity and intensity of the haunting, A Most Haunted House is the grim eyewitness account of a young couple fighting to keep their new home and each other as an entity tears their world apart. After an introduction by investigator and paranormal researcher G.L. Davies, A Most Haunted House recounts a series of transcripts from the people involved that starts with small and mundane incidents and climaxes three months later as the haunting reaches its full and terrifying ferocity. Described as "chilling" and "disturbing" by some and "thought-provoking" by others, this is one novel that is a must for those interested in the paranormal. A most haunted house invites you the listener to decide for yourself on what truly happened at this home. Should this be true, then there are unknown forces that we cannot combat in this world. Listen today and join the many thousands that have already entered a journey into fear and the unknown.

Recorded in the kitchen?
The story was interesting. However, the background noise is ridiculous. People's voices, pots clattering. What the hey?????

Terrible waste of time
The story was not captivating at all, and what's with the dishes clattering and all the talking in the background? Sounds line half the recording was done in a cafe near the kitchen. This wouldn't make a 15 second clip on the news much less a future movie. Don't waste your time on this one.

Not For Me But Perhaps For You
Every October I try to fill the month with scary stories to go along with the Halloween theme. After listening to this one I was sort of let down and at the end, felt like looking around and saying “seriously?
The one thing I can say is, while there were some rather spooky incidents in this story, it really wasn’t high on my October list. The woman struck me as a selfish, narcissistic, ehem. She seemed to have all the family support, all the friends, and didn’t really care that her partner was suffering as well. It could have easily been argued that she was to blame for the whole thing and she showed her true colors in the end. Shame on her! Also, if you are looking for high-quality narration, keep looking. I believe this guy felt he was making the story more interesting with a bit of background noise to differentiate between characters but he does make several mistakes while reading the story and has to go back to correct himself. Overall, I was left feeling sorry for the guy, wanting to smack the self-centered girl, and wondered about the rest of the story that was not part of this book. Having said all of this, if you scare easily or just want something we could call, “scary-lite”, this is your book.

What is that noise in the background??
Would you try another book from G.L. Davies and/or David Ayers?
Probably not.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The story was OK but the haunting described was hardly worthy of being called "A most" anything.
The story is supposed to be a "true story" but it contained that hackneyed plot point of "we bought a haunted house but now we're too poor to sell it." Really?? Ever heard of just selling the damn thing even at a loss and moving on with your life..... This is annoying to me because we all know that sooner or later something is going to happen and then the people do move out.
What didn’t you like about David Ayers’s performance?
Throughout the book there was background noise that was totally distracting. It seemed like this audiobook must have been recorded in someone's kitchen because at times, you could clearly hear the sounds of someone doing dishes, and at other times you could clearly hear a young girl speaking softly. About 2/3 of the book had these background noises. Totally annoying.
What character would you cut from A Most Haunted House?
None.
Any additional comments?
None.

Good read
Very good story. Would highly recommend, especially if you are into paranormal or ghost stories. This goes beyond just the normal "bump in the night" tales and digs deeper into how hauntings can affect relationships.
I am glad I was found this gem of a book.

Interesting story, decent narration
What did you love best about A Most Haunted House?
Quite a spooky tale. The narrator's accent, although one I'm unused to hearing, seemed to fit well with the locale of the story.
What did you like best about this story?
The device of alternating narration--reading of the transcripts of interviews, I believe?--was a difficult one to parse and narrate, but it worked reasonably well. The narrator's pacing is nice and even, and he is easy to understand despite his unfamiliar (to me) accent.
Which character – as performed by David Ayers – was your favorite?
I wouldn't say I had a favorite character, but I was impressed with the narrator's ability to differentiate between different characters speaking, especially since there was no discernible break/chapter title between switches in point of view, other than a pause.
Any additional comments?
I really disliked the use of sound effects in this recording. It appears that the narrator attempted to differentiate switches between the two characters' points of view by adding some sort of background to the man's part--it sounds like a coffee shop or restaurant, dishes clanging, people murmuring, etc. It was quite unnecessary and distracting, since the narrator was already doing a good job of suggesting the different voices by making his voice/inflection smoother when the lady was speaking and a bit more forceful and jerky for the main guy. Even the secondary characters each had their own distinctive voices. He did a great job with that, and the cheesy sound effects are unneeded and annoying.
