Publisher's Summary

One of the most outspoken voices gracing the cover of magazines today encourages women to be their most confident selves, recognize their personal beauty, and reach for their highest dreams in this wise, warm, and inspiring memoir.

Voluptuous beauty Ashley Graham has been modeling professionally since the age of 13. Discovered at a shopping mall in Nebraska, her stunning face and sexy curves have graced the covers of top magazines, including Cosmopolitan and British Vogue, and she was the first size 14 model to appear on the front of the wildly popular Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. The face of brands such as H&M Studio, she is also a judge for the latest season of America's Next Top Model. And that's only the beginning for this extraordinary talent.

Ashley is leading a new generation of women breaking ground and demolishing stereotypes, transforming our ideals about body image and what is fashionable and beautiful. A woman who proves that when it comes to beauty, size is just a number, she is the voice for the body positivity movement today and a role model for all women - no matter their individual body type, shape, or weight.

In this collection of insightful, provocative essays, Ashley shares her perspective on how ideas around body image are evolving - and how we still have work to do; the fun - and stress - of a career in the fashion world; her life before modeling; and her path to accepting her size without limiting her dreams - defying rigid industry standards and naysayers who told her it couldn't be done. As she talks about her successes and setbacks, Ashley offers support for every woman coming to terms with who she is - bolstering her self-confidence and motivating her to be her strongest, healthiest, and most beautiful self.

Not That Interesting

I think Ashley is amazing but this book is blah. I follow her on IG and have seen her in interviews. I think she's beautiful, love her personality and the spirit she evokes. I was ready to love this book too but didn't even like it. More autobiography than inspiration and her personal story is kind of boring. Also the writing is not cohesive. Still think she's great just not a great author.

Love Ashley Graham!

It was good to hear her story. I wish she had read the book though - I think it would have had a little more punch.

Ashley should have read the whole book.

The reader was good don't get me wrong. I just wish Ashley would have read the whole thing. It was jarring at first when they switched. Eventually I got used to it. But I definitely prefer autobiographies and memoirs that are read by the writer.

Must-listen!

I loved this audiobook so much. I could have sat down and listened to it in one sitting but I spaced it out and used it for a pick me up when my confidence or self-esteem was lacking. Each time, I felt like I was getting a pep talk from a close friend. Such an incredible book, a must-listen.

Not for everyone

I got this book looking for positivity and inspiration as a curvy woman. I expected this to be somewhat a memoir and it entirely is. You can tell it was written in 2015-2017 and it’s a bit heavy handed with Christian messaging which isn’t really what I was looking for from this book as I’m not religious. Particularly chapter two, it seems like she struggled with trauma (I.e. adult men preying on her as a child) which lead to unhealthy behaviors and she found religion a good fit for her after. That’s fine, but doesn’t really mean “waiting for marriage” is the solution for everyone. It was weird to hear her describe very disturbing situations she experienced as a child without diving very deep. There’s also references to God helping her in her career throughout, which again is fine, but if that’s something you don’t care for: here’s your heads up. Other than that, the book is a tale of how she got to where she is, which is interesting, but not necessarily revolutionary. Unlike other reviews, I actually liked that Ashley only did the beginning and end narration as the professional narrator brought life to the writing and Ashley popping in felt like a good opener and wrap up. If you want a story of a strong woman succeeding in the face of adversity (an American Dream-esque narrative) and/or want to relate to a “main character” for once as a size 12+ woman, then this is the book for you.

Loved it! Thank you!

Loved this book. It was narrated well, but wish it was narrated entirely by Ashley. Great message! Thanks for sharing your story so others can be empowered.

Amazing!

This book is so inspiring! It made me feel stronger, empowered and beautiful! I would've liked to hear Ashley a little bit more, not only just at the beginning and the end. The narrator was good though, but it would've been fun if she interrupted the narrator from time to time.
