Too much

I like stories that have difficult things that people can work through and come out healing and better on the other side. This book did have that but it was just SO much hard, sadness, and gruesome things that made me cringe and feel depressed at the end. The author does have a talent for story telling but I will be hesitant to read more of her books if they are like this one. I read a book to find hope not to be depressed and unhappy with life afterwards.
