The ending becomes a new beginning

This book and the previous are some of the best, I thought. Interesting to hear Miss Read’s motivations for ending her long career, and watch how she tackles new roles and new demands. Encouraging to see her overcome illness and simply get on with her life - seemed very English. Her determination to stay single despite pressure from a persistent suitor, and peer pressure to marry from her best friend is very refreshing. In the end, she finds meaning in a new role in her retirement.
Both books are very well narrated.
