Publisher's Summary

In early 1800s England, Jess Beauchene has spent most of her life in hiding and always on the move in an effort to leave her past far behind her. But when she learns the family she thought had died just might be alive and in danger, she knows her secrets can only stay buried for so long.

Derek Thornbury loves the past, which has led him to become an expert in history and artifacts. He knows Jess has never liked him, but when she requests his help deciphering the clues laid out in an old family diary, he can't resist the urge to solve the puzzle. As Jess and Derek race to find the hidden artifact before her family's enemies, they learn as much about each other as they do about the past. But can their search to uncover the truth and set history right lead to a future together?

Wonderful finish to the trilogy

This was a wonderful completion of of Hawthorne House and Havens’s Manor. I really enjoyed the development of new characters as well as the renewing of previous ones.

I can’t help but wish there was more detail into Derek and Jess’ new life.

I hope more series are written allowing readers insight into the life’s of the Hawthorne family and Haven’s Manor original three.

Jess seemed an unlikely protagonist and I was not looking forward to the story line but I fell in love in love with her and Derek’s unconventional journey to love.

Would definitely recommend readers read the Hawthorne House series prior to readying this series to give greater context on Jess.

What a waste of my credit

It’s hard to believe this book is part of this series. I absolutely loved the other two books, and the reviews were mainly four stars. So I was surprised at how I had to force myself to finish the book, hoping it would catch my attention. But it never did.
For me, an imaginary kingdom belongs to utopian and dystopian stories, not historical fiction. Granted, when writing a fiction book, an author has creative freedom, but I prefer bits and pieces of historical facts.
I could not like Jess, and although I see the message behind her story, she is not the heroine type.
I don’t even know what to say about Derek except that I liked him better than Jess.
