Publisher's Summary

The only favor the aliens do for Clint Beecham when they abduct him is give him a shirt that says "Do Not Eat" on it in their language. He’s told that as a physicist, he is to be reserved, along with five other scientists, for a mysterious purpose.

But 50,000 other humans on board the interstellar scout ship are scheduled to be butchered and frozen, a food supply for the long journey to the alien homeworld. Clint and the other Reserves can’t stand by and let that happen.

Ayesha is a biologist and Deepali a geologist; Oscar is a meteorologist and Gregory specializes in robotics; Hanh is a researcher in marine biology. Together, they’re humanity’s last unlikely hope. Because if they don’t find a way to stop the ravenous aliens from reporting that they’ve found a planet full of delicious creatures to eat, the 50,000 humans on board will only be the first of billions: the entire Earth will become an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Fun book, fantastic performance

I'm sure I would have enjoyed this book if reading it, but the narrator made it exponentially better. It's a great book and I love Kevin Hearne's writing but it would not have been as funny all in my own voice.

Luke Daniels did a fantastic job bringing all the characters to life and his inflections changed the meaning (for the better) from the way I would have interpreted sentences if just reading.

My only regret is that the book wasn't longer.

short and to the point

fun ... a little preachy ... still, I wanted more. A great Twilight Zone story ... or a Netflix one-off movie ... I'd watch either. worth the time ... think I'll listen to it again, now...

Love this team!

Big fan of the Hearne/Daniels combination anyway, and this story holds the line. Lots of Kevin's usually silliness and welcoming inclusion makes his first scifi tale a winner!

Fun :)

Such a fun book! It was a nice little break from reality and definitely a good little first sci-fi.

Hilarious and awkward

as a fan of Kevin hearn and Luke Daniels I wasn't sure exactly what to expect with this book because it's not his usual genre. But as always it was good! I liked it. It's a short book so a quick listen. I recommend it!

Decent, but not engrossing

Been a big fan of Kevin Hearne's writing for many years now, and a big sci-fi fan for many more, but I couldn't really get into this one.

The reader, Luke Daniels, was stellar as always, and the book does some good change-ups on classic tropes (a real strength of Hearne's). But despite that, I found the villains to be sort of boring assholes; the plot fairly straightforward; and while I liked the main character and the action sequences were good, those two things weren't quite enough to carry the whole story for me.

And I don't mean that boring villains or straightforward plots are always bad; they're not. But certain sections dealing with the villains felt a bit tedious, and since I never felt much doubt about the general shape of the outcome, I didn't feel much tension in parts where it seemed like I was supposed to.

I don't regret buying it, but I'm also not rushing to recommend it to friends like I do Hearne's works in the "Iron Druid" or "Tales of Pell" settings.

Kevin Hearn + Luke Daniel's = a GOOD TIME!!!

Great short story by a fantastic author and great narrator, the Kevin/ Luke combo is unbeatable. I also really enjoyed Luke's bloopers.

I could not finish this book it was so bad ( how bad was it .) I have listened to most of Kevin’s books this one i didn’t like, I could not get in to it. Maybe it’s just me, is it worth a shot?
