Publisher's Summary

The afterlife isn't always what you think....

A loving father of three children, Albert lived a life of few regrets. He served his country far from home. He outlived his soul mate. He died alone.

However, his assumptions about a peaceful eternity, reunited with his wife, are thrown out the window when a meddling god digs his fingers into Albert's afterlife.

The positive? He will have a chance to see his wife again.

The negative? He has to survive the dangers of the legendary World Tree for the next 300 years. He's been reincarnated into a world full of magical evolutions, monstrous deer, sassy 10-year-old elves, and untold hidden dangers. It won't be easy, but if life has taught Albert anything it's this: If something is worth having, it's worth fighting for. And he intends to fight.

What a ride

This book was so well done and the performance was fantastic.

This book spiced up the classic trope of rebirth in a fun an unique way. I would highly recommend for those who enjoy LitRPG books and those who just want a good story.

Can’t wait for the next book!

Enjoyable to the end

I like this more then expected. The mc is pretty funny in his gluttony but the side characters like fenris make the story. The book really picks up once he starts interacting with the worlds rather then just eating everything.
The fast progression would be my only complaint as he seemed to move thru the tiers by skipping every other stage which to me defeats the purpose of a tiered system and kinda makes him op a bit early. That being said most opponents are stronger and its not as one sided as some of the books with op mc's.
Performance was top class tho I wish they would remove the more repetitive rpg menu stuff to adapt it more to the spoken word rather then written. An example would be during evolutions when the narrator repeats note b4 each sentence. Sounds odd and kinda annoying but thats not really a slight and his voices were awesome.

Cant Wait for the next one

This is a wild ride, The guy gets reincarnated as a snake like monster and you go on an adventure with him.

Now this audio-book is nothing new but instead of being the hero your a monster. Ive read manga that are like this and yea its like all of them yet different. Prepare to be enthralled.

Never quite got the point

Kept waiting for it to get better. Never quite happened. If I had realized sooner I would have asked for a refund. Just a story about someone who was always hungry.

wow

I have never been so invested in a character I hate. the main character is SO WELL WRITTEN. and I was rooting for him from beginning to end. when I say hate, it's because I know that if I actually knew him in real life, we wouldn't get along, not because I actually hate him as a character. theres something to be said about an author who can make you empathize with a character when you know your personalities would clash if they existed for real.

that being said, I am definitely excited to add the next book to my library.

I found myself thinking about this story in between listens, just going about my day. I love when stories have me theorizing about the world they take place in, asking "what if" questions.

I have nothing but good things to say about this story!!

A need to buy for LITrpg fans!

It is simple if you like a reincarnation story, this is the book for you.

If you like GameLit or LITrpg this is a story for you.

If you like the sound of Travis Baldree's dulcet tones then HECK YEAH you need to get it!

Good premise but suffers from one element

A Snake's Life has a great premise and interesting world. The main character isn't too much of a dunce and side characters while one-dimensional, are interesting. However, this series suffers greatly from power-creep and differing power levels. The main character's challenges are not very challenging at all. The abilities that he obtains and his growth are almost exponential. The powerful beings in the world are almost God's in terms of power compared to the average human (or elf).

If you want a story where the main character literally eats his way through the plot with no challenges, anime tier dialogue/descriptions, and insane power-creep this is for you. It's not a bad book, it's just unmemorable in the plethora of litrpgs that are churned out monthly.

Made me laugh

The humor was right up my alley. This is a promising start in a new series. The stats are kept simple and I liked that. Likable characters, epic adventures, good humor and good narration. What more can you want?

Hard eye roll.

What a moronic premise.

Dude gives up his humanity to be with his wife. His wife is human. She'll eventually die. She'll eventually be taken to wherever humans go when they enter the after life. The dude will not go wherever humans eventually go. Moron will be separated from his "super important wife" ends up abandoning eternity with his wife after a short delay in exchange for a few years/decades with her.

Fuuken moronic. Stupid insulting. Dip Shorts. Dumb premise.

LOVED IT!

As usual with Travis Baldree, excellent performance. He never fails to make a book shine.

Kenneth Arant is an excellent author and I look forward to book 2. This first book is the purest example of a LIT-RPG/Evolution book. I loved every moment.

Not for kids, that's for sure

I mean, people mating with wolves is a little surprising, especially with this genre being recommended to young audiences.

The story is really not that interesting either. The main character is inconsistent. One moment a remorseless mass murderer, the next moment a supposed good guy. There are entertaining moments, but consistency and a sense of story would go a lot farther than this book's substitute for story. That is, jokes about anatomy and long, meaningless fight scenes full of unneeded gore, where the end result is not in doubt whatsoever. Just move the story forward.

Amazing!

This was a joy to listen to! I've read the book previously and loved it so I thought I'd see how the audiobook was. Travis just brought the story to life and I'm so glad I picked it up!
