Story
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

Imagine it were possible to bring the characters from a book to life. Not like when you listen to an audiobook with such enchantment that the characters seem to jump off the pages and into your bedroom...but for real. Imagine they could actually climb out of the pages and into our world. Then imagine if those characters brought their world into ours.

In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the Eastwood sisters - James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna - join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement.

Fun, engaging story
Chris Colder channels the fantastical tales of Enid Blyton with the zany characters of Roald Dahl. While this story isn't quite on par with those two authors that shaped my childhood, I couldn't help but think of them as I listened to the author read his fun, engaging story.

Inspired by Harry Potter but not inspiring.
loved the politics but it was didactic and on the nose writing. the dialog style of characters repeating back a statement as a question was tedious. children's literature can have depth of meaning while still being eloquently simple.
I think Chris has great ideas to share, his style just has to catch up with the message.
