Publisher's Summary

It's been more than 10 years since the war with the NeHaw ended in an uneasy truce. During that time, Jake Thomas has been relegated from battlefield commander and chief to the role of interstellar bureaucrat. To add to his frustrations, he is now father to a passel of teens and preteens, all with their father's propensity for getting into trouble. However, unexplained violations around the Human/NeHaw Neutral Zone and the mysterious disappearances of people in a remote backwater town in Arizona has everyone, Human and NeHaw alike, pointing fingers and threatening war. As things come to the boiling point, it becomes clear that a powerful third party has entered the game, and it may just require former enemies to unite to overcome their common threat.

Great series

I have enjoyed the books 1 through 5 in this series. The premise of AL working with human life is intriguing.

What is with the whisper Alice voices?

I enjoyed listening to the previous books, and I liked this story, but the narration volume changed to a whispery "female" voice when most of the ALICE'S spoke. From a listening perspective, it made selecting volume frustrating, and from a female listener's perspective, it made the ALICE'S sound stupid, the opposite of what they were supposed to represent.

Having issues with the narrator

I really feel they should have picked a better narrator, I am only part way through the book and stopped, could be a return for me but I will give it a second chance. Also at 7 hours and 50 minutes I broke my min of 10 hrs for an audiobook.

Story is fine. No proof reader?

Why didn’t an editor correct the authors reversed use of “infer” and “imply”? High school English basics.
Preferred s arroyos from first four books.

A breath of fresh air

I’m gonna try to do this with it ruining the story. This entire series is a breath of fresh air. It’s nice to see humans not inferior for a change. I like the story I like the premise I like where he put us on the Galactic stage different than any other writer who just put us as victims all time. A++
