Whining children

The first book sounds like a dialogue of a 10 year old child whining and acting out. All “mom, mom,mom” it seems like the magical part of the story isn’t the main part anymore. It’s all about an obsessive relationship the girl has with her adoptive mom. I am able to skip multiple minutes and not miss any part of the story. As it’s still Remi whining to her mom.
