Publisher's Summary

IT STARTED WITH A CUP...

Isabella Shay is usually a very honest person. But when she's running late for her first day at a dream job and the barista yells for "Amy" three times with no answer, she does the unthinkable.

Izzy takes that PSL.

It's the exact drink she ordered and paid for, only waaaay further ahead in the line, so she mutters "I'm Amy" and grabs the cup. But when she turns around and runs directly into the most attractive man she's ever seen, spilling the drink all over his GQ shirt and tie, she ends up having the ultimate meet-cute. Sparks fly and things feel beyond promising until he says the words, "See you tomorrow, Amy."

Uh, oh-she'll definitely have to straighten him out the following day.

Only when she gets to her new office and meets the VP of her department, it is none other than Blake Phillips—the hottie from Starbucks. And the man might've been charming to "Amy," but he is an arrogant grump to Izzy, an arrogant grump who does not find her explanation funny at all.

Contains mature themes.

The banter is everything

4.5 stars - yeahhh I loved this. A low-angst romance filled with so much great banter and chemistry. Plus Tay Tay quotes and a cat called The Darkling... I mean come on, how could I not love this?

Loved this book!

This was such a fun quick read. I love dual perspective romance stories. The narrator was great. The story itself was spunky and light but had enough plot to keep me intrigued. I love the side characters. I love this author so much. She makes me want to be friends with these characters in real life.

If you love Anna Kendrick-style snark

Watching AnnaKendrick’s character in PitchPerfect take “funny” digs at people, or lash out in nutty ways out of insecurity, is something I can handle for the length of a movie. Seven hours of toxic, immature behavior was too much for me, especially when the book was a romance.

I purchased this in the Daily Deal hoping the comedy would move past the off-putting meet-cute, where Izzy lies, cuts in line, and steals someone else’s purchase simply because she’s running late and she “needs” her pumpkin spice latte. No such luck. It felt like every scene gave us another “cute” thing about Izzy, except that “cute” really means “crazy” or “toxic” or “mean.”

Self-centered:
She’s caught having stolen someone’s coffee and her repeated thought is “how dare he judge me.”
Bullying:
She sends him dozens of texts to force him to accept her insincere apology,
Toxic:
Hunky guy asks for her phone number? She calls him a “psycho” for wanting to call instead of text.
Hypocritical:
They agree they need to keep work and personal separate, but the big conflict at the end is her upset because he didn’t give her an inside scoop at work.

It didn’t help that there’s loads of unnecessarily crass language used, from F bombs to things like ratsass or totald!ck. One of his pet names for her ends up being “littlesh!t.” It made this all feel very low class.

Finally, for a book willing to mouth off, the two or three nooky scenes were decidedly tame. They weren’t fade to black, but were nearly there with comments about sliding in before telling us how great it was. There was way more detail about his chest.

I did enjoy the cat-comedy. i also think the banter was funny; it’s just that most of the time it felt like laughing at/about people instead of with them. Based upon this book, I don’t think I’ll be looking for anything else by this author.

Light and enjoyable

I'm not sure why the bad reviews. This is a light romantic comedy with very little angst, which is exactly why I got it. I enjoyed the whole book, and even though I am a senior citizen, I thought the dialogue was humorous and not too childish as some complained. If you want something light hearted and something that won't make you cry, but instead keep you smiling, I can recommend this one.

This is a terrible book. Very disappointing. Not realistic at all. Izzy was super annoying.

1.5 Stars .. Not sure it deserves that.

Thoughts on this book are simply this, WHY WHY WHY? How difficult is it to write intelligent and funny dialogue? This book has neither. Why are we catering to the lazy speech and idiot crude references? Why is it when miscommunication happens it is always the man's fault, and he is the one groveling and asking for forgiveness? But when the female counter part is equally as at fault? Do we hear an apology from the female character NOOOOOO. I have read many books in that same vein and I find it particularly awful. "It takes two to miscommunicate" How dare Blake balance integrity with his heart. Izzy took, took and took from him with no thought. Men in todays society gets it rough, almost too rough. There is a balance I hope in the universe.

There were so many cringe worthy quotes, lines and conversations. I clearly don't understand what the draw is to these types of books. Many other authors can do it better.

Why is the "F" word in nearly every sentence (it feels that way), and does it have to be there? NOPE. many authors don't use foul language, and their books are entertaining and very interesting reads. I was annoyed through most of the story.

I rooted for Blake and hated Izzy. These characters are supposed to be so well educated, but act like we are back in Jr High. *gross*.

I doubt I will be venturing in any more of this author's work., horribly written and very annoying and boring. Was hoping for something better written than this, with the hype of this authors popularity. I won't be getting on that train. Sad.

Amy Melissa Bentley i have enjoyed her on other narrated books but this was not one of her best. Probably the authors doing?

Lots of swearing

The author must have a very limited vocabulary because the F word is used in just about every sentence. If you don't like swearing, don't listen to this one.
