Loved every bit

The content seems to date back to 1970s / 1980s but things stay true despite the passage of time. I especially enjoyed the voice of the narrator - Robin Sachs. I am going to search for his other works at audible for sure.

Witty and hilarious

If you’re bleeding heart liberal, look away now. You’ll likely hate every single thing about this. If you’re not, or just happen to have a good sense of humor and want to hear about the finer things in life, that most people just aren’t aware of these days, then it’s worth the listen. It’s quick and funny. It’s obviously dated, but I still enjoyed it. I even added a few things to my bucket list I’d like to experience, after listening to this audio book.

This is the cutest book ever. Highly recommend.

I don’t know what genre this falls under. It’s so entertaining with the authors dry and witty humour. The narration is just fantastic (I will be searching more from this narrator) and it’s educational in a strange way.
I was smiling throughout this book.

This was a pleasure to hear. Regardless if you may or may not be able to live in this style, it is a reminder of treating YOURSELF to luxuries, on whatever level you may be afforded.

Some light joie de vivre

The 24 short humourous pieces in the collection seem generally to be about Peter Mayle enjoying the wealth from his Provence books. Some are charming, especially those involving food and bespoke clothing. Some less so - the cost of mistresses? Still, an enjoyable period piece, as Mayle himself puts it in the forward.

So satisfying, some chapters more fascinating

Some chapters more fascinating than others but all worth a listen. Narrator is exactly right for this , probably often tongue in cheek, book of , what might be considered as advice, but primarily its entertainment.😊

Brilliant

I’m working my way through all of Peter Mayle’s books. This is my 3rd. I adore his sense of humor. His precise descriptions of Provence and for that matter most of France / Provence, Paris and London leave me smiling and laughing at the accuracy of his observations.
Having been to France several times over the past few years I equate the differences between the late 20th century and early to present 21st centuries in his accounts of places and attitudes, none the less, I’m
Nostalgic for those more gentile days.
I highly recommend his books and love these audio books narratives
