Village affairs and those of the heart

Many changes for the villagers of Thrush Green. An unexpected budding romance between two newcomers but also new understanding of the existing cast. I liked especially, the Vicar Charles Henstock’s struggles following in the footsteps of a very glamorous, well-to-do predecessor. Also, the private reflections of Violet on lost youth and lost love, express such regret and resignation. There are many fine moments in this latest instalment on life in Thrush Green. Superb narration by Gwen Watford.
