From comic to book to audiobook
I can't wait for my next credit so I can get the next book. I loved the comic and the audiobook makes it feel like I'm a slaverwasp on the wall, observing everything.
Dave's performance started out very stilted and monotone for the first few minutes, but as the book progressed she brought the characters into rich, full-bodied people.

Amazing Story, Well Read
I love this series as a web comic (see Girl Genius! it's great!) but I love it even more as a series of novels! The reading was excellent and very fun to listen to. Perfect to listen to while crafting!

Third time through this tale
I followed the Foglios since their days at Dragon Magazine. When they annoyed their girl genius project I was right there, and I still have the ashcan version of the first issue.
The story here started as a print comic, black and white, mailed by them to their subscribers. In time it became in colour, then on the web as well as briefly having a couple of audio adventures preformed by the artists and others.
The only thing that would have made this presentation better is if they had been able to get that group together to preform the audiobook.
As for the story itself, it is a sort of coming of age tale for we find our main character waking up to her role in the world ruled by mad science. In this tale much of that larger world is only hinted at as Agatha has had a sheltered upbringing. But we do see the roots of the larger tale that begins here.
Structurally, the tale started as a comic with a minor cliffhanger/reason to flip the page occurring in the lower right corner of the two page spread. Being familiar with the books I can feel those tease pages that drive one to read just a little bit more.
I own the novel, but I think listening to it from audible will become the most frequent way I revisit this story.
Really worth listening to, but if you aren’t sure if it’s for you the website can give you a feel.
