Publisher's Summary

A nonsense classic of its time.

A compelling narrative to sweep you away, from a legendary Victorian children’s author. Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland in order to entertain a friend’s daughter on a boat trip - and so generations of children have flown away on his wild imaginations.

On a sunny afternoon, Alice discovers a bottle that says DRINK ME. Unable to resist, she follows the label’s instructions...and immediately shrinks to tumble down a rabbit hole into an adventure where nothing is as it seems. From The Mad Hatter to the White Rabbit, the grinning Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts, Alice meets a cast of characters who are both eccentric and memorable.

But will Alice survive her nonsensical adventure...and can she get back home? She must face the challenges of eccentric puzzles, verses and riddles, with the help of intriguing new friends, in order to find the way back home. The first of four books, this is a children’s classic that promises to both entertain and charm.

For fans of The Chronicles Of Narnia and Peter Rabbit, a children’s fantasy like no other.

Perfect pairing

Amazing narration of the classic and curious tale.
Perfect voices,tone and pace.
Seemingly more curious as an adult.

I disagree with the consensus!!

Every now and then you hear someone interpret a children's story through a dark, cynical lens. You've heard it before that "everyone in such and such story IS ACTUALLY suffering from PTSD" or "Oh, those characters are secretly dead and..."

And I just think those interpretations are grasping and weak. My low rating of this reading is because the narrator seems to be attempting to inflect that interpretation though her voicing of the different characters. All of her characters sound weeping, creeping, terrorizing or tormented by their own being. I can see edgy teenage girls enjoying this performance, but it'll be a disturbing drag for any parent or child.

Weird - like a Random Solo D&D adventure

It is even weirder than I recalled - but I found it quite enjoyable. It really does read like a laid back 60s dream, not a nonsensical classic from Victorian times.

always fun to listen to

Jodie's narration of this story is really, really good. Her quaint little voice comes out roaring as the Queen yells out her orders.
So many different types of nuances as she plays several characters.

I thought I remembered the story

So many things I’d forgotten. Or perhaps the nuances of an audio book reinforces the differences in my memory

Hatate

This is amazing but I will say that it will be better if you changed voices for every voice then it will be perfect.
All of it is amazing I love it I will recommend this all the people I know.

Classic masterpiece narrated by a young powehouse

I first read "Alice in Wonderland" in Russian, growing up in Ukraine in the 90s. Then came a film adaptation with Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter in 2010. Now I got a chance to experience an audio "sensory" version, as an adult, narrated by the one and only Jodie Comer. The classic story is ageless and can be enjoyed by any generation. Jodie brought her energy and charisma to the audiobook, as a narrator. Kudos to her for trying new things in the creative space, because let's face it, when it comes to acting on screen, she is already in a stratosphere. The 3.5 hours of this audiobook flew by. So if you want to put it on for your kids as a bedtime story to spur their imagination or simply enjoy it yourself with a glass of wine, it will be a true pleasure.
P.S. my favourite voice was the mouse :)

Jodie Comer is exquisite!!!

Honestly Jodie Comer could hit me with her car and I would thank her! Seriously you picked the perfect person to read this, she really brings the characters to life! If you’re not paying attention to Jodie Comer and all of her work then you need to get on it immediately because you are missing out on an amazing career, she’s a legend and she’s only getting started!! Love you Jodie!!

Thank you, Audible

I got this because it was freebie from Audible, but I am so happy I did. This was delightful. The narration by Jodie Comer was perfect. Maybe some books are better when read aloud. I think this is the case here.
