All About Me! charts Mel Brooks’s meteoric rise from a Depression-era kid in Brooklyn to the recipient of the National Medal of Arts. Whether serving in the United States Army in World War II, or during his burgeoning career as a teenage comedian in the Catskills, Mel was always mining his experiences for material, always looking for the perfect joke. His iconic career began with Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows, where he was part of the greatest writers’ room in history, which included Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, and Larry Gelbart. After co-creating both the mega-hit 2000 Year Old Man comedy albums and the classic television series Get Smart, Brooks’s stellar film career took off. He would go on to write, direct, and star in The Producers, The Twelve Chairs, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Silent Movie, High Anxiety, and Spaceballs, as well as produce groundbreaking and eclectic films, including The Elephant Man, The Fly, and My Favorite Year. Brooks then went on to conquer Broadway with his record-breaking, Tony-winning musical, The Producers.

I certainly enjoyed this book. I have always enjoyed his movies, and the background of how they got made the way they did was very interesting.

The only thing about the book that I thought was a bit off, was that everyone he writes about was "the Best" ever. I find it hard to believe that he went through the career he did in Hollywood and never met someone who wasn't "the Best" ever.

This was a nice series of stories about a comedy legend.

If you love the work of Mel Brooks and you like the story telling of his generation, this will be a great audiobook to listen to.

There are many times though that stories sort of abruptly stop or had the "you just had to be there" effect. Sometimes too, there are jokes repeated in chapters or even sometimes repeated right after itself.

While this book isn't likely to win any awards, it was nice to hear Mel talk about his life and achievements.

I do hope though that nobody takes working as the way to get past grief and takes it instead as to move forward doing what you love.

We are incredibly fortunate to still have him among us. His book offers a captivating glimpse behind the scenes of his life, making it a delightful and inspiring read. It feels like watching another one of his films, filled with laughter, comedy, and heartfelt melodies.

Mel’s a gem from start to finish. A fantastic life story told with all the wit, insight and hilarity you’d expect from one of the world’s greatest comedy stars. Can’t recommend it enough, it’s easily the best audiobook I’ve ever bought.

This made me laugh all year, while I worked, yes I only listened to your voice while I worked! But yoir voice made me laugh and cry, and crying laughter (which is gross) but I digress. It feels like you became a long time friend, and I just hope one day to meet you, and tell you the impact your jokes had on me, you and your book mean't so much to me. I thank you sir, it was amazing! - I nearly signed my name haha
