Publisher's Summary

"Reader Vacker does a remarkable job voicing the main characters and keeping the tension high....Mystery and true crime fans will be drawn in and ultimately satisfied by this complex, tense tale read expertly by a talented narrator."—Booklist

"[Karissa] Vacker switches easily between the higher female voices and the lower male voices, creating recognizable and believable characters.... Listeners will enjoy a gripping and twisty story." (AudioFile on Earphones Award winner A Flicker in the Dark)

Following up her instant New York Times bestseller, A Flicker in the Dark, Stacy Willingham delivers a totally gripping thriller about a desperate mother with a troubled past in All the Dangerous Things.

One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally.

Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year.

Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever. In hopes of jarring loose a new witness or buried clue, she agrees to be interviewed by a true-crime podcaster—but his interest in Isabelle's past makes her nervous. His incessant questioning paired with her severe insomnia has brought up uncomfortable memories from her own childhood, making Isabelle start to doubt her recollection of the night of Mason’s disappearance, as well as second-guess who she can trust... including herself. But she is determined to figure out the truth no matter where it leads.

What the critics say

"True crime's trending appeal and Willingham's mastery of the domestic mystery promise popularity for this one... those who crave resolution will appreciate that Willingham tucks the story's ends in tight."–Booklist (starred review)

"[A] lyrical thriller... this involving, thought-provoking page-turner raises disturbing questions about the nature of the stories people tell themselves to make sense of the world. Willingham remains an author to watch."—Publishers Weekly

"Pacey and sinister, All the Dangerous Things has a palpable tension that keeps the pages turning."—Karin Slaughter

Kept me guessing

Loved this book! It kept me engaged the whole time, and the ending was unpredictable! Loved the characters and lots of unpredictable twists and turns!

The narrator was good, but all the mens characters sounded the same which got confusing sometimes.

Beginning is slow, but the plot and twists are great

It’s a good story, the beginning is drawn out a little long for the first few hours but overall it has a great twist that’s pretty unpredictable and a satisfying end all around.

Everything You Want

This book is everything you want from a novel like this - great plot development, the right amount of creepy, interesting, and not totally obvious, twists, amazing and complicated characters, and absolutely exceptional writing. This is domestic thriller and feminist horror done right. The author is incredibly talented - I loved this and her debut. I'm officially a fan. I'd also love to see this book as a novel.

Great Story

The story was amazing. The men’s voices and the children’s voices were difficult to listen to. Overall, great.

Stayed up all night to finish!

5 stars for narration. I'm so picky with narrators and I really loved this one.

I picked up this book after a 4 month long hiatus from reading. It did not disappoint. I stayed up all night to finish it and so my review is going to be short because I'm tired.

If you listen/read the authors note at the end it makes this book even better. You understand where the characters came from and I applaud Stacy for executing them well.

I highly recommend this book.

Added after I got some sleep:

I am really looking forward to Stacy writing more books! I read her debut novel and then immediately purchased this one when I was done. As a mother, I really appreciate the research Stacy put in to finding out our struggles - most of which we don't like to talk about. Lord knows I have been thankful for a sleeping in toddler!

This was a book about every mother's worst nightmare and when you think it's leading one way, plot twist! I didn't expect what was coming at all. She did a perfectly great job of hiding it until she was ready for it to unfold.

The ending was great and satisfying, exactly what I would have loved to have done in the same situation. It was a great read and like I said up there ^ The narrator does an amazing job!
