À propos de cet audio

Raw and wickedly funny, this debut memoir details one woman’s recovery from her emotional eating disorder, while navigating divorce, discrimination, motherhood, and the madness that is Tinder dating.

A riot of dark humor beginning with Jane McGuinness’s dysfunctional childhood in outback Australia, Always Hungry explores themes of patriarchy and discrimination against the overweight as it details Jane’s recovery from an emotional eating disorder.

Jane’s journey to find herself is something of a curious social experiment: She walks away from her long-term marriage, returns to grad school while raising her three children in a foreign country, and gradually transforms her health. Listeners will find themselves amused and aghast in equal measure as she recounts her experiences hiking the Camino de Santiago through Spain, adventuring in Greece, and subjecting herself to the horrors of post-divorce Tinder dating in her dry, self-deprecating wit.

This debut memoir is truly a transformative journey in every sense, as Jane ultimately discovers that it was never food that she hungered for after all.

This is one of the most refreshing and life-changing listens I've found on Audible in ages. Always Hungry by Jane McGuinness isn't your typical book about health, healing, or recovering from disordered eating—it's a total game-changer for how you think about wellness and personal growth.

Jane doesn't pull any punches from the jump. Her style is raw, smart, and easy to connect with, making heavy, complicated stuff feel doable. She blends practical, real-world tips with her own hilarious, honest, and sometimes tough stories. This is straight-up wisdom from someone who's been there.

Even though the main focus is on food, body issues, and healing old wounds, the lessons Jane shares work for any big wellness change you're trying to make. I started using her advice for stuff that had nothing to do with the kitchen!

Jane narrating her own book is perfection—it just adds so much extra realness and humor, feeling like a chat with the funniest, wisest friend you've got. Seriously, grab this one.

Honest and Helpful

By the last page, I didn't just feel like the narrator had healed - I felt a little more whole myself. This isn't a perfect recovery story, it's a very real one. And that's what makes it so profound. The narrator's humor turns what could have been a dark story into a laugh-out-loud love letter to imperfection. So good!

Wow on first book

Jane takes you on a honest, raw, sometimes tearful, but often also laugh out loud, funny journey of a piece of her life. Speaking truth that probably many of us share, but don’t dare to put into words as women, mothers and human beings, struggling on this planet.

Raw, Real, heart-ache and funny
