Publisher's Summary
Out of hiding. Into danger.
Luke Garner is an illegal third child. All his life has been spent in hiding. Now, for the first time, Luke is living among others. He has assumed a deceased boy's identity and is attending Hendricks School for Boys, a windowless building with cruel classmates and oblivious teachers. Luke knows he has to blend in, but he lives in constant fear that his behavior will betray him.
Then one day, Luke discovers a door to the outside. He knows that beyond the walls of Hendricks lie the secrets he is desperate to uncover. What he doesn't know is whom he can trust - and where the answers to his questions may lead him....

Great for all readers
This book is intended for YA but it's a good story with adult narratives. We've all been someplace new and had to be brave and find our way, adapt. The narrator in this book is much better than in the first book too.

Meh. Can't say I recommend it.
Significantly worse than the first book. Takes forever for anything interesting to actually happen. Then when it does it is the most illogical explanation to it all. Too distracted trying to make sense of the stretch of a plot to enjoy the progression.

I loved it
I like how Luke finally took charge and he knock someone out that was something I’d never expected. And he made his own decisions. What would probably end up to be very important in the future

Government - 0 Good guys - 2
Really good series so far and I enjoy how much the government sucks. The title should explain it all.

Incredible! Yes! Buy This! Worthy of your credits!
This series has been a gem of a find for my 10yo and I! Highly recommended.
The narrator is great. There's suspense but also sweet naivety that makes the main character so relatable for my kid. After the last few years, this rated PG dystopian novel is close enough to possible, that it really pulls you in, and keeps you imagining "what if?" scenarios, even after the story is over. I'm impatient to begin the next story, but also don't want to hasten the end of the series.
Am I allowed to say that this would also make a really awesome limited series? (Netflix, are you listening?😉)

Just want to keep reading
Though it ends on a good note, if you know there is more to the series, you will just want to put the book up and never down. The story is great and there are a lot of things unexpected about this school. I want to know what will happens next so I will definitely be getting the next one in the series. I highly recommend this book for people that are a bit... antisocial, introverted, anxietis? Just overall people that understand what is like to feel trapped.

just a stretch
this whole book could easily be described in under one chapter. only around 2 weeks worth of time passes in this story and very very little actually happens. most is just super descriptive s*** you do not need to know. like the color of some of the kids hairs in their attitudes which does not have anything to do with the book. just a bunch of filler trying to stretch out a short story. the first one at least had some thrills and s***. this one has about 5 minutes of excitement definitely a waste of money
