Publisher's Summary

1817. As a young woman, clever, self-reliant Lydia Templeton scandalised society by rejecting Lewis Durrant, the county's most eligible batchelor.

Ten years later, Lydia has no regrets and, having concluded that matters of the heart need no longer trouble her, she is quite happy to remain unwed. But others still seek Lydia's advice on their love lives.

Such fun! Admirably clever, too.

This lovely, witty tale is an homage to Austen (and P&P) in the best way.

Fun and witty

Well here's a gem. If you enjoy Jane Austen but don't want a Pride & Prejudice variation, I highly recommend this book. It's full of clever wit (I love Lydia's thoughts and asides) and interesting characters. I would have liked to see more fleshing out of the Lydia-Lewis situation, and I occasionally had difficulty discerning which character was speaking, but overall it is well written and well narrated. I will definitely listen to it again.

A pleasant read/listen

A very nice story, very Austin-esque and a bit predictable but most pleasant and easy to listen to.
