Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of ancient China, then pay attention....

In this audiobook, you will be led on a journey through almost 2,000 years of Chinese history, showing you all the ups and downs of those ancient times, the sufferings and joys of the Chinese people, along with their greatest achievements and failures.

Dynasties will change, people will be killed and born, art made and destroyed, but the Chinese civilization will prevail, rising from humble beginnings to an empire that at some points outshined any other in the world at that time. And yet it won’t be only a tale of kings and queens, emperors and rulers. Of palaces and forts, of swords and shields.

It will also tell a story of farmers and merchants, artisans and artists, philosophers and scientists. And hopefully by the end of this introductory guide, you will gain a sense of what, who, and how the Chinese civilization was made as great as it was and still is.

From that, a better understanding of this amazing Far Eastern culture and its history should arise as well as a greater appreciation of its achievements and contributions to the world. And with a better knowledge of history, a clearer understanding of the world will come as well.

In Ancient China: A Captivating Guide to the Ancient History of China and the Chinese Civilization Starting from the Shang Dynasty to the Fall of the Han Dynasty, you will discover topics such as

Worth A Listen

This is a cheap, short, but well done overview of the history or China. Very informative for what it is.

For stories I would rather recommend

The people who shaped China
I just found it much more entertaining and fun to listen to

This book here is more like an essay
While people who shaped China throws you into their lives

Anyway just my personal feeling
Different people have different tastes

Hello Ancient China.

The authors of Captivating History are famous for his reflection, I am sure my opinion is perfect, that "The Chinese are smarter than us", and that insolence of admiration shows through.

Good one but too much details.

The author provides a good overview of the Ancient China, I did enjoy listening to this book and came away understanding a little bit more of all the Backstage. However, the author's explaining too much details.

It is very well and clearly organized

It is very well and evidently systematized. The author writes in a language that anyone can easily recognize. As your will listen through the audiobook, you feel you are part of Chinese history and are living the events as they explain. Brilliant audio-book for the history of China and its relation with its close neighbors.

Admirable Research

Captivating History’s writing team is excellent at its work but nothing likens to his research. In this book one can find in sights into people and issues that you could never find anywhere else.

Fascinating insights, from fascinating author.

Dazzling indeed from captivating history about China. This book certainly augmented my understanding of the culture, people, and goals of the country. I found it frightening at some points, but also reassuring in others. But would urge you to listen to it.

Good one, not the best.

The book describes great background for understanding the current state-of-play, kindred and offers confidence that the positive curve set in motion. All in all, good book but not the best one in my view.
