Publisher's Summary

Back by popular demand! The further, fearsome, and funny adventures of Andrea Vernon and the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection - written by Alexander C. Kane and performed by Bahni Turpin, 2018 Audie Award winner for Best Female Narrator.

More than a year after she helped save the world from the Sparnaxian invasion, Andrea Vernon is in a good place. Her boss is giving her greater responsibility and she’s getting to travel a lot (although her fill-in is hopeless at making coffee); things could be getting even more serious with her 8’ 4” superhero boyfriend, The Big Axe; and she has a really fun new BFF, Never More.

Small issue, though, with that last item - Never More is a supervillain bent on world domination, and it looks as if nothing can stop her. Especially since Congress is determined to bring the Corporation for UltraHuman Protection and all of “Big Supe” under government control.

Even with mankind’s greatest heroes fighting back, will it fall on Andrea to save the day - again?

Like being in a group chat with your trivia team

I absolutely loved 'Andrea Vernon and The Corporation for Ultrahuman Protection,' so when I learned there would be a sequel, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. In this superhero workplace comedy performed by Bahni Turpin, the juxtaposition of the fantastical and the mundane never fails to delight–like the time Andrea and her supervillain frenemy go out drinking and get into a heated argument about the correct way to get dressed (it’s obviously sock sock, shoe shoe, NOT sock shoe, sock shoe!). There are pop culture references galore (Jessica Alba’s Honest Company, the TV show Arrested Development, and a well-timed Third Eye Blind joke that had me laughing out loud on my morning commute) and you almost forget you’re listening to a story about bureaucratic red tape. There are punny superhero names (Great Gory Samsa), real-life locations (shout-out to Hoboken Terminal!), and tiny throwaway jokes that come satisfyingly full circle in the penultimate scenes. If you love ‘The Princess Bride’ and ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy,’ don’t miss ‘Andrea Vernon and the Superhero Industrial Complex.’

Team Sock Sock Shoe Shoe

Alexander C. Kane and Bahni Turpin did it again. They have to be one of the best author/narrator combinations I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I seriously laughed and smiled so much listening to much loved characters from the first book returning (Inspector Well Actually is still in rare form), as well getting to know some new ones (Nevermore is an excellent super villain/best friend). The only thing I wish I'd known before buying was that it has a cliffhangery-ish ending. I don't normally do cliffhangers, but that's on me for downloading before any other reviews were out. So I'll sit here, not so patiently waiting for a third book, hoping that it's in the works. Can't wait to read about you again soon AV!

I am at my brightest...

I have been looking so forward to this book. I was not let down at all. All our favorites are back from the 1st book. Some you just have to realllly wait for. My husband even listened along at bits and was laughing quite a bit despite not having heard the 1st. Bahni did a great job as usual!

My only negative is that there was some slow bits, I didn't mind them because we get more time with the crew. But this is way more focused on Andrea than the first but in a more travely way. I still got some new favorite characters. Glare is certainly one of them. Thank you Alexander for the seriously fun series!!

Holy cliffhanger!

I love this audiobook so much. I did not think the author could outdo book one but he did. This one was amazing. I cannot wait for the next installment

This book is so freakin’ entertaining!

I absolutely Love this book! It had me rolling on the floor at times and, at others, tearing up a little. All of the characters name so relatable that I felt like I knew some of them personally. I can’t wait for the third book to come out!

Bahni Turpin is a comic genius

Let me start by saying, this book would not be for everyone. If you're a person who would turn up your nose at an author who can come up with dozens and dozens of witty ideas for super villains, you should pass on this book. But for me? It was love at first listen. I loved the first book and figured this one would be okay but maybe not great - sequels often aren't. To my delight, it turned out to be just as good and in some ways even better. There were moments out walking my dog and listening where I had to stop in my tracks because I was laughing too hard to keep moving. Glare in his hero suit? Absolutely genius image. It all comes together because of Bahni Turpin. I have no idea how I would feel about this book just reading it on the page, but it doesn't matter because I had Ms. Turpin's narration to enjoy. She is just extraordinary. Plus, some highly topical themes and big ideas help ground the story in something meaningful. Highly, highly recommend.

do do do do do do do

rarely do i find a sequel better than the original and so like the big axe stands out in a crowd of hobbits, this book stands out in the superhero fiction genre. apart from the amazing names- from state senator vernon to kitchen sink to the hilarious peggy o's metaphors - this book has a number of longer mini games such as the third eye blind trick and the shoes and socks order icebreaker that are hilarious because they are things you, reader, can do in your own life. the best part of all is the metaphor describing all the experiences one can have without ever knowing that st. louis city is not in a county. it's drawn out, slapstick, and really made me lol.
this book is just such fun, i'd recommend it to anyone even if they haven't read the first boook.

Even better than the first book!

I don’t think I have ever laughed out loud this much listening to a book. Within the first five minutes I was already chuckling. Listening to this book was like catching up with some old friends, I love these characters so much. I informed my husband today that we need to take a long road trip so that we can re-listen to both! Fantastic writing and fantastic narration.
