Story
Dorothea Brooke is an ardent idealist who represses her vivacity and intelligence for the cold, theological pedant Casaubon. One man understands her true nature: the artist Will Ladislaw. But how can love triumph against her sense of duty and Casaubon’s mean spirit? Meanwhile, in the little world of Middlemarch, the broader world is mirrored: the world of politics, social change, and reforms, as well as betrayal, greed, blackmail, ambition, and disappointment.

Consistent, entertaining, and endearing
I think Kesler is a good reader for this book series. I admit her voice takes a little getting used to but after a while I got to appreciate how Kesler voices Anne and the others with enough distinction and nuance. There may be better readers out there but I think Kesler does a good job and most importantly provides consistency for the book series. While I really like the voice she gives for Anne, I feel that the voice she gives for little Davy Keith in Anne of Avonlea is just perfect and hilarious. Give this recording a good honest try and I think you'll come to appreciate it as I have.

Never too old for this collection
I honestly would’ve given all five stars but for one thing. The voice/character given to Susan was so annoying it really hampered my enjoyment of these classic books. I feel a little petty even speaking of it, but I’m certain it’s not just me. My sisters feel the same. She becomes a main character halfway through the third book and it’s not easy. One of my sisters just gave up and stopped listening completely. We’re all 40+ years old and LOVE this series. It’s truly a favorite for us all. That’s really the only thing that I could criticize. Otherwise it’s wonderful.

Great reader, wonderful content
I loved this series and the narrator was clear and easy to understand. She gave different voices to almost everyone and it was a great audible rendition. Highly recommend.

My absolute favorite story. Beautifully rendered!
Brilliant narrator. Will look for more of her. 2 things to help the reader. 1. chapter and book titles 2. There are two missing books that should b re added to be considered a complete set.

Endearing
The series is well done. I would have given it 5 stars but the character, Susan Baker, in the last book, Rilla of Ingleside, became rather annoying at times with her rants and "I" this and "I" that. I probably would have liked her better if the rants weren't so long and so often. At times I felt like the author was just trying to meet a page quota so used her rants and speeches as filler.
