À propos de cet audio

A movement seeks to redefine Christianity. Some think that it is a much-needed progressive reformation. Others believe that it is an attack on historic Christianity.

Alisa Childers never thought she would question her Christian faith. She was raised in a Christian home, where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had witnessed God at work and then had dedicated her own life to leading worship as part of the popular Christian band ZOEgirl. All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic.

Another Gospel? describes the intellectual journey Alisa took over several years as she wrestled with a series of questions that struck at the core of the Christian faith. After everything she had ever believed about God, Jesus, and the Bible had been picked apart, she found herself at the brink of despair...until God rescued her, helping her to rebuild her faith, one solid brick at a time.

In a culture of endless questions, you need solid answers. If you or someone you love has encountered the ideas of progressive Christianity and aren’t sure how to respond, Alisa’s journey will show you how to determine - and rest in - what’s unmistakably true.

I recently discovered Alisa’s podcast and was excited to get her book as well. I found it very informative and thought-provoking. I appreciate her courage in sharing her experiences and in reminding people to go back to the Bible and to God Himself when facing doubts and questions rather than relying on our feelings. She quotes many verses directly from the Bible as well as Biblical scholars and expresses sincere care for those she quotes whose opinions she disagrees with (there’s no name-calling or dismissing their worth as human beings.) This book gave me a greater understanding of the teachings of the Progressive Movement in Christianity and where they differ from what the Bible actually says. I also appreciate her emphasis on the fact that having doubts is normal and questions about our faith should not be dismissed or ignored. I have experienced many of the troubling things in church environment that she mentions and it was reassuring to know that I’m not alone in this.

An eye opening look at the emerging progressive Christian movement. Very much recommended. Great writing.

generally good defence of historical Christianity, but not necessarily biblical Christianity. Focus on church fathers vs the Bible itself, for example, weakens some arguments. Assumes that substitutionary atonement is the only kind, weakening the overall defence against some legitimate criticism from progressives. good encouragement to dig deeper and understand the foundations.

good premise and objective, some flaws

This book although I have only listened through once, has been such a clear lense to look at Progressive Christianity and the threat it poses to Chridtians struggling in their faith, highly recommend!

I have yet to read another book on apologetics that is so informative, practical, personal, stretching, and easy to read. Childers pulls you in through her own personal experiences while making you plum the depths of scripture and historical Christianity. You cannot help but reevaluate your own personal journey with Jesus while seeing the staggering truths that she brings to light through the extensive research she has done.

I would highly recommend this book to anybody who is questioning their faith or just longing to understand why they believe what they believe.

Thank you very much Alisia Childers! I’ll be rereading this again and again.
