Publisher's Summary

Contains Books 1 and 2 of the Ascension Gate series.

A gateway to the stars. A colonization mission gone wrong.

The Marines hold the fate of our universe in their hands.

It was supposed to be a peaceful exploration, Earth's first step in expanding to the stars. But, no plan survives first contact. Thrown into a battle for survival against the deadliest threats imaginable, the Marines must contend with ice and desert planets with mysterious creatures, along with a history of turmoil that threatens to spill over to Earth if not checked.

Meanwhile, a genetically-engineered threat rises on Earth - one that holds the secret to this intergalactic war.

Will our heroes in space survive long enough to make a difference? Can Earth's forces solve the mystery and put the pieces together in time?

They damn well better hurry, or an ancient, long-forgotten enemy will gain an unassailable foothold in their control of the universe and all within.

Good scifi devolves into confused vampire fan fict

This book started out as an interesting gateway style scifi...then added dragons and vampires... Then thongs started to get confused and pointless. Multiple characters with the same name, unnecessary love stories, complexity for no purpose.

Had to Quit

I tried hard to make it through, but had to quit listening about a third of the way in. The characters are all basically one character with different names. The action scenes are chaotic with characters going from upside down and backwards to running through caves or ships or ships in caves with no explanation of the actions in between. Not easy to picture things happening as they are being described.
If you are looking for good military sci-fi, keep looking.

do not waste your time not worth it

This Hayden lady is by far one of if not the worst narrator I have ever heard, mispronouncing words not being able to stay in character etc.

the story was boring and incredibly confusing and made zero sense majority of the time. each character was more or less the same you couldn't really tell who's who.
