Has nothing to do with Lorien. so don't expect it.
If you're into sci-fi books about anti-humanity/ pro-green party propaganda, then this is for you.
The narrator did a good job though.

Good Story with language problems
I liked the story and the concept but the repeated usage of the "F" word was very distracting to knee and took away from the story rather than adding to it.

Great new series!
I have read/listened to all of the Lorien Legacy books and tried this new book because it's from the same author. While it is not related at all to the Lorien universe, it still has the same great action sequences, characters you can relate to and root for, and huge stakes in the plot. The descriptions of all of the alien races and the rules of the new world were all very imaginative. I've seen some people argue that the plot is "eco-propaganda" and pushing some climate change agenda and I don't agree at all with these sentiments. What plays out is completely believable. I know this is considered a YA book but I am an adult and (just like the Lorien books) found the plot relatable and engaging. I hope there are many more to this series.
On Goodreads many poor reviews of this book mention a robot-sounding narrator. This must have been just for advance copies of the audiobook. The narrator in this Audible version is fantastic!

New Story
Not in the same universe as the 'I Am Number Four' series, but still a good book. The narrator did an amazing job. Slow at times but REALLY picked up towards the end.

It has potential
The story want too bad, I just have an issue with it. I realize it’s a “young adult” novel but it seemed like the writer was trying to bring it closer to an adult novel by throwing in as much swearing as he could. I’ve listened to the whole “I am number four” series and know that you can write a good story without contesting it with swearing. It just seemed like the characters were trying to prove they were adults by saying adult words. It was just unnecessary.
Otherwise it was a good young adult novel.

A Political Propaganda Story
It's basically a story about Green Party and Collectivism being the one and only way to live. I expected more from the guy responsible for the I Am Number Four series. It was entertaining though and I'll probably read the rest when released. If you liked Ready Player Two then you'll enjoy this.

So much better than the Lorien series
I was a bit skeptical about this series after the Lorien legacy series. But if you thought that series was a bit forced you will be pleasantly surprised by this one.
To be clear this series takes place with completely different rules than the other books. They are completely unrelated stories. This story has completely different races and completely different technology. Yes they actually use technology instead of magic. It is a great coming of age sci-fi adventure.

Humanity, unsavable
I’m not sure if the author hates the way humanity treats the world, or if he was just amplifying the world’s problems for some plot. Every other moment is spent talking about how terrible humans are or how the planet is a unsalvageable. This would be expected from non human characters, or ones who have been taught off the world their whole lives. This is highly unbelievable for a character who grew up on earth, much less 3 of them, 2 of which were born and raised before the widespread idea of pollution.
I find it especially hard to identify with someone who can’t seem to find any good in humanity, while being half human, raised by a human. Sometimes I’m certain he actually doesn’t like his own human mother. Characters we were told to like, I couldn’t. Characters we were told to hate seemed the more likable becuase there motives make since.
The only really good thing about this entire audiobook is the voice acting. The author knows how to emphasize the right points, and do justice to character voices. I didn’t agree with some of the accents but they still worked.
