Publisher's Summary

The stunning conclusion to Robin Hobb's Fitz and the Fool trilogy, which began with Fool's Assassin and Fool's Quest.

More than 20 years ago, the first epic fantasy novel featuring FitzChivalry Farseer and his mysterious, often maddening friend the Fool struck like a bolt of brilliant lightning. Now New York Times best-selling author Robin Hobb brings to a momentous close the third trilogy featuring these beloved characters in a novel of unsurpassed artistry that is sure to endure as one of the great masterworks of the genre.

Fitz's young daughter, Bee, has been kidnapped by the Servants, a secret society whose members not only dream of possible futures but use their prophecies to add to their wealth and influence. Bee plays a crucial part in these dreams - but just what part remains uncertain.

As Bee is dragged by her sadistic captors across half the world, Fitz and the Fool, believing her dead, embark on a mission of revenge that will take them to the distant island where the Servants reside - a place the Fool once called home and later called prison. It was a hell the Fool escaped, maimed and blinded, swearing never to return.

For all his injuries, however, the Fool is not as helpless as he seems. He is a dreamer, too, able to shape the future. And though Fitz is no longer the peerless assassin of his youth, he remains a man to be reckoned with - deadly with blades and poison and adept in Farseer magic. And their goal is simple: to make sure not a single Servant survives their scourge.

Needs a different narrator

I love Robin Hobb, and I love these books. I have read them multiple times. It doesn't bother me that the narrator reads the book differently than I did in my head. But it does bother me that he changes the names of characters from previous books. Also from book 1 to 3 in this series he changes the voices and accent of a couple characters, the Fool most prominently. If you are going to adapt a story, you should at least have listened to the previous books. And the director should have caught the changes. I am disappointed.

Fantastic series!

Perfect ending for a great life story. I love the imagination & writings of Robin Hobb. My only negative comment would be about the narration. Not a fan of Eliot Hill.

Frustrating to listen to

I have listened to all 16 books of the Realms of the Elderlings on Audible and it has been a great experience until this last trilogy. The story continues to be wonderful but I really wish that Elliot Hill had listened to the other books before starting his reading. He has a wonderful gift with accents, but his tone of voice as he speaks the different characters is so different than that of the two readers who performed the first 13 books that they are unrecognizable. It is enough to make me wish that I had not purchased the last trilogy. This will certainly make me more cautious when purchasing Audible books in a series in future.

Love these characters

Wow! I discovered Robin Hobb a few years ago and love how the 16 books all intertwine. I have listened to all 16 books 3 times now and know I will listen again. I absolutely love all characters and love watching them grow and interact with each other. It is interesting to notice how one trilogy’s occurrences show up in another. Assassin’s Fate brings closure to all 16 books. Absolutely love it!! Highly recommend!!

A journey I’ll never forget

How can it be over. This entire 16 book series was phenomenal the way every series was its own yet brought together. I honestly had tears for this to end as I never want these character to stop living their tale. Where do I go from here?!

ugh I wish there was more

what a great way to end it, I stumbled upon these books late and I'm extremely pleased i did, the characters and relationships kept me hooked and I will cherish the characters, what I wouldn't give to know more of their futures

Most difficult book of the series for me to read

Non stop tears, heart wrenching. Fitz has been a part of me for over 25 years. I bid you well, my friend.

Sooooo Good!!

Talk about a book hangover! I feel like I've lost friends. It was an amazing adventure and a wonderful story. And after 16 books the ending was just right.

Perhaps my only exception would be the narrator, while I enjoyed the performance - and I was okay with the some of the differences with the exception of The Fool.

Give yourself some space between trilogies & narrators and it isn't as jarring.

Amazing!!!

I didn’t want this series to end. I hope Robin Hobb writes more about about Bee and Nettle.
