Publisher's Summary

Nicholas Sparks brings back two characters from his beloved best seller, True Believer, in this continuing saga of extraordinary love.

There are few things Jeremy Marsh was sure he'd never do: He'd never leave New York City; never give his heart away again after barely surviving one failed marriage; and most of all, never become a parent. Now, Jeremy is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, married to Lexie Darnell, the love of his life, and anticipating the birth of their daughter. But just as his life seems to be settling into a blissful pattern, an unsettling and mysterious message re-opens old wounds and sets off a chain of events that will forever change the course of this young couple's marriage.

What the critics say

"It's majorly manipulative and totally effective. Have plenty of tissues on hand." (Publishers Weekly)

poor

I read many of the reviews and I took all into consideration before I downloaded this book. I read the first one and thought it was just OK, but Nicholas Sparks has such a good rep that I thought this would defy the odds ... I was wrong. This is one of his worst by far. Like another review said, it really seemed like he was rushing to get another book out ... cross your fingers that this is the last of his "bad" books and the he starts picking it up ... where is the great Nicholas Sparks we know and love?

Really really really BAAAAAD

Wow. This is by far the worst story I've ever heard. The characters are unconvincing and lack intelligence. The narrator's accents are embarassing to listen to. This book is sappy, sentimental drivel of the worst kind. Don't waste your time or money.

Finding Yourself

This started out a little slow but gained momentum. It was an extremely good listen, well narrated and as with all Sparks books very involving.

The jolt in the story leaves you in shock! Your have to wonder if miracles require payback.

It completely finishes True Believer....too completely to be sure!

Worth listening to, a story that lingers......

depressing

Book was good until near the end-VERY depressing!!!! Sparks is obviously setting up for a trilogy where no doubt love will be "found" again (sigh)

At First Sight (Unabridged)

Very Disappointed in this book. It was written as a cheap harlequin. Certainly not up to Sparks usual writing.

What a disappointment

I have read every book Nicholas Sparks has written and loved them. I felt with this one that he wanted to publish a book to meet a deadline and took the easiest way out. I didn't have that same feeling when I read "The Wedding" as a followup to "The Notebook". In this one he picked up where his last book, "True Believer" left off and spoiled the fondness the reader developed for his characters. Their behavior seemed contrived and annoying at times. Some of the language was also too sugary and sometimes seemed to go on a tangent. Although the ending is realistic, it was very disappointing too.

Hugely disappointing! Boring and Unimaginative.

What would have made At First Sight better?

A plot. Characters I care about. Nicholas Sparks has always been my go-to author for a feel good, up-lifting read. I found this book to be an incredibly dull portrayal of marriage, to the point of being depressing.

Stop with the music!!

The music added in between chapters was distracting and completely unnecessary. Would’ve rated higher if not for that.

Story is great but...

Great book but the music was warped and distracting. Please stop adding music to your books.

The saddest book ever....

One of the reasons I hate your books is because you make us fall in love with the characters and then kill them with little or no regard. I wish I would have stopped with True Believe. Damn
