©2017, 2022 Jonathan Sixtos (P)2024 Jonathan SixtosI guarantee that author Jon Athan didn't intend this book to be funny - but turning a mentally-unstable/visual & auditory hallucinating morbidly obese woman into an oddly vengeance-obsessed cannibalistic rotting-from-the-inside monster because she starts on back-room Ozempic is some laugh-out-loud s**t. I enjoyed this ludicrous body-horror book immensely.
As to presentation: Cora Blouch wasaay overenunciates and betrays a too-often evident indifference that makes it obvious that she's reading a text sitting open on her lap. Don't get me wrong, Jonathan Sixtos (the author's real name) cast the project with a genuinely creditable emotive narrator.. it's just that he could have gotten similarly "adequate" results with any professional audiobook reader.
Altogether, unless you try to take this book seriously, you'll enjoy it. 'Bad Appetites' rates 7.5 stars out of 10. I wouldn't suggest making this stuff your go-to reading fare - or spending a Credit on it - but it's a fun distracting romp if you can get it for free.
