Publisher's Summary

Mascen Wade, star pitcher of the Aldridge University baseball team, is a lot of things.

Rich. Hotter than sin. The campus’ reigning bad boy.

We knew each other once upon a time, but even if I’m named after a princess, it doesn’t mean my life is a fairy tale. My plan is to keep my head down, get my degree, and leave this town. But the moment Mascen Wade recognizes me, all my carefully laid plans come crumbling down. He’s decided he wants to make my life a living hell, but I’m not so easy to push around. I won’t put up with his bully playground antics.

It's just too bad that I’ve never been able to resist him.

Incredible

This was my first book from this author and the enemies to lovers trope had my heart race the whole time. The narration had two absolute FAVORITES so they truly did the book justice. Highly recommend ❤️ Finished it in less than 24 hours, it’s THAT Good, promise!

Great book

First and foremost the narrators, Erin and Jacob were absolutely beautiful together.
There is a fine line between hate and love. See where the lines blur.
Worth the credit.
Enjoy…..

No Desire to Finish This

I usually don't leave a review before I finish a book, but I wanted to give potential buyers a fair warning. First of all, the female narrator can't do male voices, and it was distracting at first. Still, I hung in there because I thought the story had potential. However, I am five hours into a nine hour book, and there has only been one kiss... And even that was like pulling teeth!

I mean, I'm all for the build-up, don't get me wrong. But this is supposed to be a ROMANCE book. Don't make me wait until I'm over halfway through to get even one little crumb!

The story is interesting enough that I will hang in there just to see how it ends, but make no mistake, I am not impressed with this author, and I have no desire whatsoever to torture myself beyond this book. I will NOT be wasting credits on the rest of this series.

UPDATE: I now only have 2.5 hours left of this book and have decided to end the torture. *SPOILER ALERT* The leading man demands that our heroin goes home with him over Thanksgiving break. They have to stop at a hotel on the way, because it is such a long drive, and I had high hopes for a steamy hotel scene. But no such luck. It wasn't even relevant to the story. Okay, I still hung in there, because I knew she would be staying with him in his family home for 2 weeks. Something was BOUND to happen, right? NOPE! One more kiss in the heat of a weak moment, and then he pulls away from her... Again. It is enough to give you whiplash.

Perhaps the thing that bothers me the most, is that his hatred for this girl stems from something that happened when she was 8 years old and had no control over. I kept hoping for a conversation about this. Maybe he would admit that it wasn't hatred, but that he just missed her so much. I had hoped for some kind of a confrontation, but still, I was left wanting.

At this point, I no longer even care what happens to these two or when. You can't call this a romance book, and you certainly cannot call whatever they have a "relationship." This was definitely not worth a credit, not worth my time, and definitely not worth my investment into ... whatever it is they call it. I strongly urge you to not waste a credit on this one. You will be disappointed all the way through.

Kind of the same College Story

Well written story but this is another college romance that I feel like I've read before. It was entertaining enough to keep me reading but also a typical friends to enemies to lovers. They started out as best friends as kids, separated during the childhood and come across each other in college. Star athlete who grew up rich felt abandoned by his best friend therefore hates her but not so much when he sees her again. Hates her but doesn't want her to be happy with anyone else. I don't mean to make lite of the storyline but that is the basic premise of the story.

College Bad Boy Romance

My first book from this author and I’ll be honest I was drawn to it because I’m a huge fan of Erin Mallon and Jacob Morgan. It was definitely an easy listen, Low angst but definitely had all the feels. I don’t think it was necessary to listen to the previous books to follow along, Rory and Mason’s Chemistry carried through the entire book. I wish there was more of an extended epilogue from this couple.

Narrators made it-

Could have used more something, I just couldn’t get into the the dynamic between H/h. Not sure what it was. But fabulous narration as always.

Great story little too long

First off Narrators Jacob Morgan is always amazing & Erin was great too.
The story was a really great story but more than half of the story out H/h wasn’t together like chapter 30 something. I listen while I’m working and it just too long for me for them to even get along. Then the ending was quick HEA. I liked how it ended. I just like my epilogues little longer.

Slow Beginning

So this is a slow burn and thus it was hard for me to get into the beginning of the book. However once we got past the 25% percent mark i was crazily invested in these two!!!

The narrators did a wonderful job with these characters

Confused

So I’m a little confused about this one - I never grasped the reason Mascen had such an enormous chip on his shoulder for so much of this book. The reasoning seemed really flimsy to me: the meeting in the house, the way she left when she was EIGHT and didn’t tell him - nothing that seems like a rational reason to feel so unhinged over Rory. That kept me from throughly embracing this story.

College, slow burn romance

3.5 stars. Bad Boys Break Hurts is the first book in the Boys series by Micalea Smeltzer. I grabbed the audio of this one and enjoyed it! This has a college setting, the heroine is just starting school and she runs into the hero who she knew growing up, she actually starts dating his roommate/friend first. This is slightly sports romance, the hero is the star pitcher for the school’s baseball team, but the sports part is super light/barely there (I actually wanted more sports time lol).

Rory is just stating her first year at Aldridge University on scholarship and she’s so ready for a new beginning where people don’t know her or her family’s history. She’s been the responsible one after a family tragedy when she was young and she was left to pick up the pieces. On her first night she ends up going to a bar with her new roommates/friends and wakes up the next morning in a guy’s room (the guy she was dancing and making out with at the bar). Nothing ended up happening but on her way out she runs into his roommate who happens to be Mascen, someone she grew up with! While it’s been 10 years since they’ve seen one another, Mascen definitely feels territorial about Rory and can’t keep away from her, even though he tries to since his roommate starts dating her.

This one was angsty, with Rory dating Mascen’s roommate for about the first half of the story. They are more friends though and do end up splitting which is when Mascen invites Rory home with him for Thanksgiving and winter break. Mascen has a complicated relationship with his dad which is explored in the book, his dad was a famous drummer in a band. I did think the relationship/romance part was slow and once they got together I wasn’t as invested as the buildup of the “are they/aren’t they” type setup we had in the first half when she was dating his roommate. I did like how he calls her “Princess”. And I’ll probably continue on in the series because the audios were good and I do want to see some of the other character’s stories, including his roommate she dumped. Lol

CW: suicide (loss of a parent)
