Publisher's Summary

The writers behind the blockbuster hits Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas and the acclaimed author of No Happy Endings join forces in this hilarious novelization of the hit movie franchise.

What happens when a trio of overworked and underappreciated good moms get pushed beyond their limits? They turn "bad" - ditch the kids, the housework, and their clueless partners with hilarious and heartwarming results.

Based on the popular movies, Bad Moms: The Novel gives fans a new way to enjoy their favorite characters, Amy, Carla, and Kiki, as they smash the Perfect Mom pedestal, take on the grown-up Queen Bees, forge deeper bonds with their kids, get some long overdue respect and recognition, and indulge in a few hours of some crazy fun.

Enriching the chaotic and comedic stories of the films, Bad Moms: The Novel is a sendup of modern motherhood and a celebration of moms gone (temporarily) whack - to good effect.

Bought the Audible version because Nora performed

First, bought it from a local bookstore, thank you Wild Rumpus for shipping books during coronavirus.

Bad Mom was a delight! I saw the movie and loved it. But love the book even more. How cool is it that the writers of the movie asked Nora to convert it to a book? I love that. And the fact that the movie sent Nora herself into labor is such a good full circle, small world moment

It's hard not to picture Mila, Kristen, and Kathryn as she brings their characters off the screen and on paper. When I found out Nora read the audiobook I switched and bought the Audible copy too. Nora has a knack for storytelling; her talent as a writer is evident. It's something in her bloodline...those McInernys... But also, her voice is soothing and one you want to listen to. If you are a fan of her podcast, Terrible, Thanks for Asking you will love diving into her book reading.

Please do yourself a favor and

1. Buy Bad Moms from a local bookstore (I bought books as gifts from Subtext)
2. Read Bad Moms, not because you want to compare it to the movie (that's just dumb), but with fresh eyes to enjoy a story by Nora
3. Bask in Nora's entertaining fiction

Love Nora Mcinerney

I didn't like the movie, I'm not a Mom, so perhaps that has something to do with it. However, Nora Mcinerney's reading made this story thoroughly enjoyable.
Nice, light, fun 2 day listen.

Funny even if you don't have children.

I haven't seen the movie this book was based on so I can't say how they compare. I can say it was funny even if you don't have kids. My favorite character was Carla because she:s tough and funny

Unexpected Emotionally Comforting

that wasn't what I expected but exactly what I needed. I loved the authors' take on this comedy movie, and how she was able to input so much more depth and variety to the main characters. relatable and comforting. a fun listen!

Better than the movie

Please write more books like this! I bought the movie and I love the book. These characters stayed with me after I heard the book. I love getting to know their thoughts and motivations. Good fun!

Perfect is overrated.

Sometimes books made after movies suck, not so with this one. It was just as funny as the movie. It follows the movie almost scene for scene, but what the book does is give insight to each of the characters personality. This book does give insight into not being perfect. Obviously if you’re looking for a literary masterpiece, look somewhere else. But if you want a fun story that has you with a smile or two, this is a good one to choose. Narrator does a great job.

Little bit funny, little bit depressing

This book felt like a 7 hour stand-up comedy bit by a mom raging about fake moms, influencers, and the pressure to be perfect. While some of the comedy bits were fun, it felt like the ratio of comedy to depressing realities of mom-life came down too heavy on the depressing side.

The format is also mostly talk. It was hard to tell the three POVs apart and I think this might have worked better with three different narrators, or even as scripted audio. Based upon the book, I imagine I’d like the movie better. But, as a sale purchase this was still a solid listen. Even the sad parts provided some catharsis for this awkweird mom who never fit in with the PTA. And the three amigas are definitely some keepin-it-real ladies that I’d love to have in my tribe.

Yep, like the movie

The movie kept very close to the book, which quite honestly shocks me. I loved the movies ( 1& 2) so this book did not disappoint.
