This is one of my favorites in the series, and it holds up on a second listen. It's convoluted and wildly unrealistic, but it was such fun. Well, as fun as gruesome murder can be. I love the magic theme, and the killer's backstory (and house!) were interesting. Also, Balzano gets a break on the aging/vanity theme she always seems saddled with.
The secondary characters, especially the young heroine, were great.
I'll repeat myself and say that this is a perfect airplane read.
