Story
Most mercenary units fly flags on two flagpoles at their headquarters: one with their unit’s flag, and other bearing the flag of their current employer. However, the Third Regimental Combat Team—a.k.a. the Eridani Light Horse—leaves one flagpole bare, as a reminder of the death of the Star League, and the other pole flies the Light Horse’s unit and regimental flags at half-mast.

Story
Exile to the miserable world of Sedh, the disgraced Necron Lord Oltyx is consumed with bitterness. Once heir to the throne of a dynasty, he now commands nothing but a dwindling garrison of warriors, in a never-ending struggle against Ork invaders. Oltyx can think of nothing but the prospect of vengeance against his betrayers, and the reclamation of his birthright. But the Orks are merely the harbingers of a truly unstoppable force. Unless Oltyx acts to save his dynasty, revenge will win him only ashes.

Publisher's Summary
For Ezra Payne and the Stealthy Tiger mercenaries, professionalism is everything. Hired to assist in the bitter, bloody fighting on the planet Hall, they quickly earn a decisive victory for their employer. They settle afterward in for a needed period of rebuilding, and a few months’ peace before moving on to the next contract.
But their respite does not last. More mercenaries, hired by the Allied Mercenary Command itself, land on Hall. They believe the Tigers’ employer to be league with the Word of Blake, a shadowy interstellar organization that worships technology, and which has been building its own empire among the worlds around Terra.
The Tigers want nothing of this battle, but war rages across the Inner Sphere. The hard-fought cease-fire cannot last, even on Hall, and when every faction is embittered and fueled by fervor, peace has no chance at all.
As a new conflict erupts, will the Stealthy Tigers’ BattleMechs be enough to save them? Or will the looming threat of renewed war engulf them in its fiery embrace?

Thumbs up.
Decent, if predictable plot. Narrarator did a good job. Mech battles were exciting. Hope to see more from the battletech universe on audible.

A good story that continues the Battletech legacy
The story has predictable plot points and the grim determination that categorizes a Battletech story: Victory, but at a cost.
The sound levels and occasional editing errors detract from a good narrator. The Word of Blake are still a Hydra-esque mustache curlingly bad villain that can just deus ex machina resources, tech and the like as needs be for their ends.
Essentially I am more pleased that it is a Battletech story on Audible and hope others make their way here.

Enjoyed It, Despite Minor Audio Issues!
I definitely enjoyed the story of this one, and despite there being noticeable issues with the recording (I.E. A few flubbed takes not removed, and quite a few retakes sounding like they were recorded on either different equipment or with a different narrator) I found the narrator in general to be engaging on most key characters.

An excellent story worth listening to
The narration was impeccable. All voices brought to life beautifully. the story is very good and worth your time if you're a fan of scifi and militaristic dialogue. I couldn't stop listening unless I absolutely needed to and when needed, I couldn't wait to get right back into the story. Absolutely fantastic, hope theres more up to date releases in the future.

Bad editting
There are quite a few spots editors missed in this. Narration repeating, different tones. Frequently found spots where the VA repeated himself twice or long pauses.
Great performance and an enjoyable story (if forgettable), would be nearly max stars if not for the horrendous and embarassing quality of the audio editting.
