Publisher's Summary

Golf is a beloved yet technical game, so a sound swing and precise technique are essential. Most golfers who want to improve their skills go to the range and work painstakingly on their swings, not realizing it's often their performance state on the course that needs work, not their technique. Simple things such as awareness of your balance, tension, and tempo, as well as the ability to control mental, emotional, and social variables you encounter while playing, can quickly take your game to a new performance level.

Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott, founders of VISION54's groundbreaking and innovative golf program, are here to help. Aimed at both the weekend golfer and the advanced player, each chapter presents a series of "human skills" - including assignments, explorations, and mini lessons - that strip away the complexity surrounding swing technique and playing consistency - the conditional variations that plague golfers.

Be a Player is a must-listen for any golfer who wants to unite technical skills and on-course performance seamlessly and effectively. With this cutting-edge book, you will become a true student of VISION54 and a better player on the course...where it matters most!

one of the better books I have owned.

loved this book.
very different from so many other golf books I have read.
it comes across as a guide and things said seem easy to implement but deep down it's tougher than the technical aspect of golf and will require practice .
I recommend this book to every golfer from a pro to a beginner.

Simple Steps to Fixing your thoughts

I have been hitting the ball so well on the range but struggled to take the feeling to the course. Great ideas, stories, and steps to help translate the feeling of confidence and trust in your mind. Such an important but overlooked concept in golf and The Game of Life. I really enjoyed the book. thank you to the authors.

Great stuff.

Listen to the book multiple times to get the most out of it. I've faced all the self inflicted problems discussed in the book many times. I feel as though I'm now better equipped to deal them.

Finally a golf book for mind and body

This is one of those books I reread before big tournaments. It guides you through how to mentally and physically manage yourself during competition. Touching on breathing, laughing, talking, thinking, crying, stewing,etc....golf tempts every emotion in the human brain and this book helps you determine which are right for your game and how to manage them during play. It’s helped my tournament results.

Helped me get out of my own way

This book really did help me think differently on the course. I quit obsessing over my score and swing and just played. I’m still working on it, but the balance tension and tempo thing has been such a great feel for me! I love the philosophy! Thanks!
