Publisher's Summary

A renowned supermodel's world is torn apart in an instant, sending her on an unexpected journey of discovery in this masterful novel from number one New York Times best-selling author Danielle Steel.

Veronique Vincent is a star. At age 22, she is one of the most sought-after models in fashion, gracing the covers of magazines and walking the runways of haute couture shows across the globe. Yet, despite being the consummate professional, Veronique wants little of the glamorous life that modeling affords her. The beloved daughter of a hardworking single mother, she has always preferred spending time at home or with her kindhearted boyfriend to attending lavish parties. When a quick getaway presents a welcome break on the heels of Paris Fashion Week, and before a Vogue cover shoot in Tokyo, Veronique is thrilled, eager to escape the mayhem of her busy schedule. Then, out of nowhere, a tragic explosion at Zaventem Airport in Brussels changes her life forever.

The ruthless terrorist attack has the entire world on edge. Veronique finds herself hospitalized and alone, devastated to learn that the blast has killed both of the people she loved most. She is also forced to confront the harsh reality that she has been severely injured, her famous appearance forever altered. As she plunges into seclusion, the industry that once adored her believes her to have fallen off the map. In truth, she is struggling to find herself again after losing everything, and to discover what truly matters in life. But her mother's will, accompanied by a letter Veronique never knew existed, reveals long-held secrets, introducing her to a world she hadn't even known was possible.

As Veronique forges bonds old and new, she begins to see a light beyond the darkness she has come to inhabit, finding peace in opportunities to help others, and redefining for herself what beauty is, and what it truly means to be beautiful.

Danielle Steel presents a story of one woman's breathtaking perseverance in moving beyond tragedy to a life more meaningful than she could ever have imagined.

A lovely message

This book ultimately provides a wonderful message about our potential for true strength and human resilience following tragedy and shocking evil acts. And it underscores the beauty within.

Beautiful

Another DS book spellbinding and entertaining from beginning to end. Thank you for this story - I loved getting wrapped up with characters- so vivid - just as if I was with them - the explosion, the loss, the recovery and the road home - loved it all! Thank you DS.

Well read

The narrator made the story beautiful for me with clear characterization, even though my preference is a more exciting story

It was okay

Probably one of my least favourite stories of hers. It was very repetitive and the story just dragged on because of it. Was not a fan of the narrator either

Too much intro.

I love Danielle Steele's books, but the intro pretty much said it all. I will read it and hopefully there will be more to learn. Then I will review again. That being said, Invisible and Finding Ashley were amazing! I didn't read the intros for them maybe that's the key. I am going to give it full stars because she has not let me down yet.

Beautiful story.

Having loss my husband of 49 years this book has spoke volumes to me. Somehow when your life seems to end with the death of a love one a book like this comes along that reminds you that life goes on. It’s not easy to re-identify yourself but just as Veronique did you have to forge on to find that peace. Maybe one day I will go to Africa as she did one and find beauty in life again! Excellent reading and I highly recommend this book.

Deeply Moving Story

This is great book by Danielle Steel. This book could have been a little longer.I Like this book because even though it is fiction, it used a real world tragedy that happened in 2016.

Beautiful

We all heard the phrase beautiful is in the eye of the beholder.
But is it really? So many people are quit to judge a person at first glance and not get to know them.
Even beautiful people are self conscious and scared what happens when all you know is gone.
Read this story and find out about yourself within this story.

Loved the story

I really loved the story. I wish it had been longer. There are so many ways it could have been more in depth. When you listen to books as much as I do, length of story is a big consideration. To spend a credit on something short is only reserved for your favorite authors and of DS is one of mine. More please!!!! The narrator had a beautiful voice ♥️

Too short.

I would like to have seen the main character journey into discovering her new career a bit after finding herself in Africa.
