Publisher's Summary

Get to know a national icon in Eddie Izzard's hilarious and dazzling autobiography.

Star of stage and screen. Tireless supporter of charity. Marathon runner. Political campaigner.

Fashion icon. Human.

There is no one quite like Eddie Izzard. This is the story of how she broke through.

Her relentless optimism has led her to always do things her own way, even if it didn't work the first time, and her incredible self-belief has pushed her to keep on trying, even if it didn't work the second or third time either.

Whether she was putting on teddy bear shows on boarding school beds or swordfighting on the streets of London, Eddie never stopped trying to achieve her dreams of becoming a performer.

Brimming with her distinctively surreal humour and disarming candour, Believe Me tells the story of a person who never took no for an answer.

How did Eddie I produce a slow, dull story

have retuned the book, 5 hours of 14 hours in. By this mark, Eddie is in his early teens, selling ice cream, talking about his time in the Ists footballs team. For a person with such an amazing wit and powerful story, Eddie is in desperate need of an editor.

Very entertaining and just a lovely listen.

I like Mr Izzard's comedic stuff and quite enjoy the conversational tone while on stage. This recording has some of that style. Which I enjoyed as well.

Grit: A story of determination

Perhaps not quite what was expected - but if you want to learn about determination and finding self belief this is a must. The footnotes ramble a bit but that is part of the charm.

Thank you Mr Izzard, a great listen.

"... End of footnote..."

So generous and inspiring. I never knew he spent those early years in Northern Ireland (as did I) and now I love him more!

Best audio book ever!

Reading my favorite comic's biography was illuminating and hilarious but what I recommend above all is the audiobook, narrated by the master himself, with loads and loads of extra material and his wonderful delivery, it provided me with houds of joy.

Funny as hell

IF you like Eddie Izzard's humor this is a very good listen; he reads it as only he can. Lots of extra and live footnoting. Laughed often and smiled the whole time!
