Publisher's Summary

The number one New York Times best-selling author of The Book of Lost Friends and Before We Were Yours presents an uplifting novel set in a small Texas neighborhood where unexpected challenges and new relationships give deeper meanings to "home".

When 18-year-old Tam Lambert learns that her family’s upscale home is in foreclosure, the life she's known is forever changed. Tam and her family must move into a tiny house in a changing Dallas neighborhood called Blue Sky Hill....

New resident Shasta Reid-Williams knows nothing of real estate schemes when she and her husband purchase a home in Blue Sky Hill. To her, it’s the perfect place to raise her children. Better yet is getting to know Tam, who lives right across the street. When neighbors realize that a corrupt deal could force them from their homes, friendships and loyalties are tested.

Over the span of one summer, two young women discover the strength and maturity to do the impossible. They find that even in Blue Sky Hill, life-altering relationships and amazing possibilities can begin to blossom....

"A timely story about finding strength and wealth in the most unlikely of places." (Booklist)

"If you are looking for a great book this summer, be sure to put Beyond Summer on your reading list. The characters will find a place in your heart. I didn't think I would ever find a book that came close to Tending Roses, but Beyond Summer might have matched it." (The McGregor Mirror TX)

Beyond Summer

This book was very well written and could be read by any age group. It was also an eye opener on crooked coops looking for more money from unsuspecting new homeowners.

Character development—unreal

Wingate is unreal at developing characters and connecting their story plots across multiple novels! A master at literacy, she does it again! Great story and narration!

Such a Good Message

I really enjoyed this audible book. Some of it was difficult- to realize the suffering that happens in some people’s lives. However it was inspiring to read how Tam saw truth and reality in life.

I almost sent this one back

One review said she almost sent this back and to hang in there so I did. It was just ok. I wanted to skip the chapters about the creepy Ceesay but didn’t so I could figure out why she was in this story. She did not fit. I figured the author was trying to educate the reader about sugar field slavery in Louisiana 65+ years ago. That’s why she was old but she had not evolved in all those years? The narrator of Shasta made her sound stupid and loud but the book does not portray her as stupid. Didn’t like Barbie. I liked Tam and Cody and Aunt Lute. Even the kids were portrayed with delayed speech. That was annoying. I guess I didn’t like it much at all although I did like Summer Kitchen a lot

Disappointing ending

I really enjoyed this book and it had some really good life quotes, however I feel the ending could have been more.

Couldn’t get past the narrators voices

The story was not gripping and the narrators voices were annoying as heck. It’s pretty rare that I won’t finish a book but this one is a dud, sorry!
