NATIONAL BESTSELLER AND CULT FAVORITE

Named a Best Book of the Year by the New Yorker, Time, NPR, Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Huffington Post, NBC News, Lit Hub, theSkimm, Condé Nast Traveler, Town & Country, and more!

“One of the funniest books of the last few years” (Los Angeles Times) about a sex therapist’s transcriptionist and her affair with one of the patients.

Greta lives with her friend Sabine in an ancient Dutch farmhouse in Hudson, New York. The house is unrenovated, uninsulated, and full of bees. Greta spends her days transcribing therapy sessions for a sex coach who calls himself Om. She becomes infatuated with his newest client, a repressed married woman she affectionately refers to as Big Swiss.

One day, Greta recognizes Big Swiss’s voice in town and they quickly become enmeshed. While Big Swiss is unaware Greta has eavesdropped on her most intimate exchanges, Greta has never been more herself with anyone. Her attraction to Big Swiss overrides her guilt, and she’ll do anything to sustain the relationship…

“A fantastic, weird-as-hell, super funny novel” (Bustle), Big Swiss is both a love story and a deft examination of infidelity, mental health, sexual stereotypes, and more—from an amazingly talented, singular voice in contemporary fiction.

Entertaining but lacks depth

Author has created unique characters and has an entertaining writing style, but the opportunities for nuance and depth are missed and the ending feels uninspired. Good performance from the reader.

Just the right amount of weird and absurd

This was an odd book, but it was also kind of beautiful and enjoyable to listen to. I liked the main character even though she is an odd duck. I enjoyed it.

Absurdly wonderful!

This story was perfectly quirky. The inner dialogue of the narrator was very entertaining and the characters epitomized the complexity of the human character.

I would fill my library with books like this!

Loved everything about this book! The characters, the perfectly described setting, the pace, the humour, the animals, the format. I have listened to the audiobook twice and enjoyed it even more the second time! I would love there to be a follow up story so we can see where all the characters land up in their journey of healing and discovery.

Fun all the way through.

Great VA, and was just the right amount of quirky. Enjoyed it from start to finish.

amazing performance!

First of all, I loved the story, the plot is a hook in itself, but the narrators who told it couldn't have been casted better! Greta's voice is very soft and really pleasing to the ears and the accent given for Flavia was top notch! Om's voice also was very fitting and it gave me a laugh imagining who would play this character in a film! I couldnt stop listening to this, and my attention rarely dulled!! (this is really something considering I have adhd and struggle immensely with audiobooks). I even found myself laughing in public as I listened on my daily commute. 10/10 story and definitely the fastest I've ever gotten through a book, let alone an audiobook!!

It started wonderfully! Then…

I loved it for the first 1/3rd and then it was rampant with a LOT of graphic sex and very odd side stories. It went on for too long and the ending was disappointing!
