Publisher's Summary

A new series in the New Era Online universe from the author who brought you Life Reset!

John Slater never had any interest in video games. Now he’s got to beat one to save his brother.

A battle-hardened, ex-special forces soldier, John was never a fan of games...unlike his brother. But now, he’s got to learn and learn fast if he has any chance of saving his younger sibling. Magic, monsters and levels are new to him, and his real-world skills aren’t as useful as he thinks.

Lucky for him, he’s used to adapting on the fly. And soon, the world will know why his squadmates called him Seraph, the death angel.

Note: Events in Biomancer happen after Life Reset. However, the two plot lines are not directly connected and can be listened to independently.

Could be better...

Ultimately this reads like an action tragedy. But the big difference between biomancer and Life Reset is the amount of character interaction, or lack thereof. in Life Reset the focus is on building a thriving community. In biomancer the protagonist is largely self isolating which cuts down on story potential. This only starts to change near the end. But then we hit a cliff hanger. So perhaps book 2 will flesh things out. I'm hopeful for this series but it needs work otherwise it could fall flat. The whole individualistic bio vamp rogue thing is interesting but it needs to be paired with more character development beyond "save my 1 dimensional stereotypical kid brother who we only see once in chapter one." Honestly the story so far has been rather predictable.

Unexpected twists and a great dive into NEO again!

enjoyed the dive back into NEO with new perspectives. It feels like the author had many more devilish intentions with our main v.i....

Truly terrible narrator, story seems equally bad

I really wanted to like this. I loved the life reset series, but this was nowhere near that. Luke Daniels is a truly terrible narrator and ruined the story. Hard to say if the story itself is bad because all I hear is his terrible voice and awkward tone changes. I suggest reading this book instead of listening, save your ears the pain.
