Publisher's Summary

At only 32, Bishop Stockley has lived a hard-knock life. After doing five years in a federal prison, Bishop is back at his dad's trailer and working for his landscaping company, thrust into a legit world where he's no longer the alpha - a world where a criminal record is the least of his disadvantages, because Bishop can't read or write.

Bishop already had the deck stacked against him, but he wasn't afraid of hard work to change his situation, and he did want to change. Especially after he encountered Edison Scala, a kind-spirited office manager who didn't hesitate to come to his defense...a man that saw past Bishop's grass-stained coveralls. A man who wasn't intimidated by his stern features and his silence.

Bishop knew Edison was off-limits. He'd made personal vows to himself when he was released from prison, ones that he never intended to break. But, when Edison asked him about providing landscaping services at his home, there was no way he could refuse. He hadn't expected Edison to feed him, praise him, encourage him, and look at him the way he did - as if Bishop was somebody.

Contains mature themes.

A beautiful story!

I very much enjoyed listening to this story, it shows that diversity is a good thing, hardships can be overcome and we don't always have to keep feeling bad for choices made long ago. Very well written story, heart felt. Well played by Tor Thom as well.

Fabulous hurt/comfort M/M Romance

Oh YES!! Fabulous hurt/comfort romance, with ramped up emotions.

The plot made sense too, so I had to keep on reading to see where all the threads were going.

Tor Thom was an excellent narrator/storyteller, no trouble differentiating between all the characters.

Loved everything... But the narrator

I really struggled with this narrator. The story was fabulous, I love the author but I won't be listening to Trent story. I don't think I could stand another 8 hours listening to Tor Thom.

Such a great book

I can’t say enough good things about this book - a great story line with great characters and plot development. It’s very romantic and has a nice feel! I hope she writes more in this series! Can’t wait!

a long listen but worth it for sure...

Even though both MC had experienced loss and hurt in their past they were both growing and working on their lives in a 'normal' way. Loved these guys and their friends and families.
This narrator is hard for me listen to so it took me several tries to get into this book.

Got boring very quickly. I’ve read/listened to books by this author and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed most, but this book dragged. I have more than 5 hours left and have no motivation to finish. Even with the angst from the coworker and ex, they don’t bring enough to the book to make it more palatable.

In part it’s the narration. I’m sure he’s great, but not for this book. It just sounds off.
In part it’s also the characters. Ed’s character seems extra pitiful for no reason. It’s one thing to be left out as a kid or teen, but no groups in university so he could make at least one friend ? And none of his hobbies can be done outside the house with others to make friends? A bit unrealistic.

Then there is Bishop. I have tutored people who are close to being illiterate or are actually illiterate and all were older or had a learning disability that all educators chose to ignore so put them in esl and called it a day. They didn’t grow up with cell phones or computers and professor google at their beck and call that they can talk to and he can answer, it’s almost like this book is based in the late 90s where Bishop had less of a chance to learn to read. The man was in prison for 5 years with resources at his fingertips. He went into prison at 28, played video games etc and didn’t learn anything past kindergarten? A bit unrealistic. So this book frustrates me as both characters have so many opportunities to grow but took none only choosing to make an effort to impress the other.

Maybe the tear jerking love occurs in the 5 hours I have left to listen, but so far, it’s all just physical. Nothing screams soul binding love.
