A classic David vs. Goliath story that pits Vermont farmers with small organic family farms against a Boston restaurant conglomerate and its corporate stakeholders. It's also a steamy romance rich in erotic content while dealing with larger issues like the farm-to-table movement, and exposing how the corporate restaurant trade functions. I expected a formulaic romance and didn't expect to listen to more than a few chapters but it drew me in, and kept me listening till the end.

This is a spicy, second chance romance, where he falls first in a stunning Vermont setting. Great story, but the narrators were fantastic. Really took this book to the next level.

I absolutely loved this cozy, heartfelt small-town romance! Bittersweet is rich with emotion, humor, and a touch of spice. Griff and Audrey’s story perfectly balances warmth and tension, blending the sweetness of second chances with the spark of undeniable chemistry.

Audrey is a city girl with big culinary dreams, trying to prove herself in a world that doesn’t always make room for second chances. She’s full of heart, determination, and an infectious optimism that lights up every scene she’s in.

Griff Shipley, on the other hand, is the ultimate grumpy farmer — hardworking, loyal, and maybe a little too stubborn for his own good. He’s juggling the demands of running his family’s orchard and caring for everyone around him, leaving little room for distractions... until Audrey shows up and turns his world upside down. Beneath his rough exterior, Griff is protective, gentle, and deeply devoted — the kind of hero who makes you melt with every quiet act of care.

The Vermont setting is pure comfort — think orchards, family dinners, and cider-making — and it creates the perfect backdrop for a love story that feels both authentic and swoony. The audiobook narration was spot-on, bringing Griff’s quiet strength and Audrey’s spirited warmth to life beautifully. Both narrators were new to me but I'm definitely going to check out more of their work as I really enjoyed their pairing.

If you’re in the mood for a story that feels like a warm hug with just the right amount of steam, Bittersweet is one to add to your listen list.

This book was really sweet. The characters were all realistic and well developed. The small everyday conversations and lack of forced drama made this book feel cozy and accessible. It really felt like the issues the characters faced were real and because of that I was way more invested emotionally. The storyline was interesting and the timeline made the development of their feelings natural.

Great story ... amazing book as a standalone. Narrators, Tad Branson and Saskia Maarleveld brought out charming chemistry with dark and steamy energy. Passionate from start to finish can't wait for another book from Sarina Bowem

The story was okay. I probably would have given it three stars for my personal taste, but I thought that the various insights into various food operations and farming operations was an interesting aspect, with little tidbits that I thought were interesting and fresh, so extra star for that.
