Publisher's Summary

F. Paul Wilson’s powerful World War II novel is an unforgettable historical saga of passion and terror, the ravages of war, the pain of betrayal, and the glory of love.

At the heart of the story are four people torn between love and honor: Matsuo Okumo, born in Japan, raised in America, and hated in both lands; Hiroki Okumo, his brother, a modern samurai sworn to serve a secret cult and the almighty Emperor; Meiko Satsuma, the woman they both love; and Frank Slater, the American who turned away when Matsuo needed him, and who now struggles to repay his debt of honor.

An excellent WW2 story

A love story tinged with the horrors of war and divine misconstrued belief in victory.

Unexpected Romance from F. Paul Wilson

This was mostly a good book. I enjoyed it even though it was not what I was looking for from FPW. Supposedly part of the Secret History of The World, it was mostly just a plain old historical romance. Some supernatural content but not much and it was contaminated by horrible mutilation of children that I found revolting thus the 3 stars. The narrator was excellent.

wow

I absolutely love F. Paul Wilson. This is an awesome wonderful tale that is non stop and beautifully told.

Brian Nishii performed fabulously. The Japanese words were music to my ears.
