Seth has led the Immortal Guardians for thousands of years. With them fighting by his side, he has protected humans from psychotic vampires, defeated corrupt mercenary armies, defended military bases under attack, and more. He awakens encapsulated in dirt with no knowledge of how he came to be there. Riddled with injuries, he can remember neither his past nor who he is. Nor can he remember what he is. But surely no mortal man could survive being buried deep beneath the earth. All he knows with certainty is that the soothing voice and presence of the woman moving around above enables him to endure the agony of his wounds. And he will do whatever it takes to be with her.

Story
US law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds but not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. What its significance might be, she can't guess: an attack from seven psychotic vampires at once, only separated from nightmare by an eighth very different immortal. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes.

Publisher's Summary
Dana Pembroke has been able to glimpse the future of those she touches for as long as she can remember. But she never saw Aidan coming. When the tall, dark Celt with the charming grin yet world-weary eyes walks through her door, the future she sees for him is one full of violence, danger, deception...and passion. Because amidst the terrifying battles that unfold in her visions, she also sees herself in Aidan's arms and in his bed. Dana knows she should keep her distance, but the tender moments and laughter they share entice her even as she finds herself thrust into a world of vampires, immortals, and other preternatural beings.
Immortal Guardian Aidan O'Byrne has been hunting and slaying psychotic vampires for nearly 3,000 years, so visions of bloody battles don't trouble him. The battles Dana foresees, however, show Aidan's brethren turning against him, so he can't help but feel alarmed. While he spends as much time as he can with Dana, struggling to decipher her dire predictions, Aidan finds himself utterly smitten. Hope rises that he has finally found a woman who can banish the darkness and loneliness that plague him. But when vampires begin targeting Dana and a powerful enemy spawns chaos, will fate grant them time to find happiness together?

I LOVED AIDAN AND DANA
Where does Blade of Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
8 out of 10
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
yes the Gershom know as the other just keep trying to harm Seth and his Immortal Guardian by wrecking all kinds of havoc on mankind
What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is a very expressive and entertaining narrator who brings the characters to life. Oh and I also read the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
I couldn't make up my mind weather to give Blade of Darkness 5 stars or 4 stars. I settled on 4 because one of "The Others" Gershom who wants to kick start Armageddon. He kicked the Immortal Guardians Butts. I felt like saying come on Dianne Duvall, you have 3 "Others", Seth, Zach and Jared fighting with the Immortal Guardian plus the Ancient Immortals David and Aidan and Gershome still outsmarted and beat them all at every turn. What you let Gershom do to Ami is an Unforgivable Offense, as good as the rest of Aidan and Dana's story was the author gave to much power to the villain.
This is 3000 year old Aidan O'Byrne Immortal Guardian and Dana Pembroke a Gifted Ones story. I loved both the H/H. They are very well matched and very well written. We met Aidan in bk.5 Night Unbound when Aidan stole the list of Gifted Females from the Immortal Guardians Headquarters. Well Aidan has found his mate and Dana is just written beautifully, she is a very intelligent and might I say very protective female heroine. Boy did I love it when she gave Seth, Zach and Chris a peace of her mind, she is very funny!! Don't give her a gun or she will shoot you hehehehe!! She will shoot and take names later LOL!! I loved her.
The story has many twist and turns, and moves very fast. It is action packed and very funny at times. We get to catch up with all our beloved Immortal Guardians and there 2nd. My favorite is always going to be Ami and Marcus with there beautiful toddler Adira. I also, love the catch up with Cliff and I hope they find away to keep him sane and alive. I admire his lady love. It would be great if Cliff could somehow be converted to and Immortal Guardian. I don't think I could bare it if he succumbs to the madness of a Vampire and has to be put down. Cliff is fighting so hard.
Unfortunately the story is written in such away to keep the villain Gershom in the storyline that Seth, Zach and Jared who has finally joined the battle in earnest got there Butts kicked along with the IG. I hope Seth can finally Best him in the next Immortal Guardian book and Dianne Duvall can write a new villain to take his place. Gershom needs to meet his end in a big way by Seth. Seth reputation is at stake and he should always remain the Strongest and Smartest "Other".
I Highly Recommend Blade of Darkness for your reading pleasure. I can't wait for book 8.

Another Excellent Immortal Guardians story!
Loved this book as much as all the others in this series. If you haven't read this series you should! They are all must reads.
Loved Aiden and Dana. They made a great couple. He waited a looonnggg time to find her that's for sure. I really enjoyed this story and the Others coming into play. There was a lot of action and superb dialogue. A lot of characters from the previous books coming in to play. I love all the powers the Immortal Guardians have. Especially Seth! (Can't wait for his book.) I know it is coming one day.
As for the narration, Kristen Potter does such a great job on all the voices and keeping the same voices throughout the series. Just fantastic.
Gonna be a long wait for the next release... Sigh... But it will be a pre-order as always.

Blade of Darkness @audioloversblog
Alas, Aiden is now the love of my life. Aiden is so old fashioned. Well, he should be since he’s 3,000 years old. But it’s sweet old fashioned, not "I wanna teach you how to be somewhat normal." He truly wants to Court Dana, something that almost appears impossible thanks to Gersham.
Yes, that’s right, Gersham is up to so horrid tricks including but not limited to kidnapping, impersonating Aiden, driving Seth crazy, and pissing off most of those who’ve come into some contact with the arrogant jack hole.
Dana, who is psychic, has so rather awesome visions of her and Aiden. Dana and Aiden seem to be an awesome power couple. There is a
Bonus seen of Dianne Duvall’s blog that I highly recommend looking up. Quite the bonus for you, who want to hear more about *that* kiss.
Also, the touching base with some old friends is quite beautiful. I especially enjoyed spending time with Adira, as she is quite the special girl and can’t wait to see where she’s going. Also, I have a soft spot for the most antisocial character ever written, aka Roland, and enjoyed the little catchup with him.

Keeps getting better
I loved this book. Dana and Aidan were perfect together. I have always had a soft spot for Aidan since he was introduced in Night Unbound. He is brave, sweet, funny and all he wants is to be loved. Dana turns out to be more than I couldn’t have ever hoped for. She is amazing!! She moved up to tie with Lisette for my favorite heroines of the series. She is quick witted, compassion and great ( and fast ) with a weapon. I don’t think I have ever laughed so hard before. Their romance feel so real. One of best aspects of these books is how even though there are so many characters none of them ever feel forgiven. It is always wonderful to catch up with them. It makes you feel like part of the family too. And of course we get more time with Cliff in this book. I really hope that things work out for him soon because I am not sure how much more I can take. Watching his slowly deteriorate is killing me inside. This might just be my favorite book in the series so far. I can’t wait for more.

Ummm....Can I get another? More please?
At first, I was a little leery. I recently had a sequel come out that I was really excited for, only to have the hero totally lose all his integrity. So, when I read the excerpt, I was nervous. Especially after the vision of Seth attacking Aiden. (I really like Seth) I was pleasantly surprised to find that instead of the integrity of the characters being compromised, the author raised their integrity to a whole new level. The sense of family and caring were very present in this book. Their refusal to believe wrong about one another and banding together around the main character despite everything is very inspiring. I wish we could all be like that.
Anyway, on the whole a terrific book and a worthy sequel. Now the only question is...... what's next?

Awesome.. Awesome.. Awesome.. Love this series..
*Sigh* I just finished book 7 in the Immortal Guardians series and now I’ll have to wait 100 years for the next one, or it feels like it, anyway.
So, I hate, hate, hate Gershom but with him being sooo powerful he made the book much better. He teleported from country to country with Aiden or Seth or Zach or Jared hot on his trail, slashing and stabbing innocent people to try to slow his pursuers down. Only to finally get away AGAIN!
I absolutely loved Aidan and Dana. Especially Aidan since he’s been alone for over three thousand years. Another *sigh* and then he met Dana and he finally had someone to love him.
As always it was such a pleasure to see Seth, David, Zach, Roland and Bastian again. However, I don’t know if I could bear it if Ms. Duvall killed off Cliff, and he seems to be getting worse in every book. I’m hoping Melanie finds something that will help him. Readers don’t like it when authors kill off main characters so here’s hoping…
There was explicit sex in this book but it certainly wouldn’t be called erotic, thank God. Also, the F- bomb was used 47 times.
As to the narration: Kirsten Potter is one of the best female narrators out there. She does voices great and reads with wonderful emotions.

*** OUTSTANDING!!! ***
It seems like it took forever to get the next part of this series, and Ms. Duvall did not disappoint! This book is very well written and moves at a fast, strong, steady pace.
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
I fell in love with this leading man right from the start! Aidan O'Byrne is an Immortal Guardian that is 3000 years old. All this time he has lived without someone to love, and he's had no one to love him in return. Because he's lived all this time waiting for his "Gifted One", he breaks down and steals the list that Chris Warden has compiled naming all the women and men who carry the genes that will allow them to become an Immortal. On account of this, he is not trusted by Chris and is somewhat distrusted by Seth, who is the leader of the guardians. Aidan uses the list to set up "accidental" meetings with the women on the list in order to see if they share any chemistry. He meets Dana Pembroke, a clairvoyant, who can see the future by touching someone. He finds the chemistry he's been looking for all these years with Dana, and she falls for him just as hard. Aidan spends all this free time romancing Dana but does not tell the other guardians, or Seth, about her. He didn't want to tell her that he is an Immortal and 3000 years old. He just didn't want to rush her into his world, of danger and violence, before he know's she can handle everything he must tell her.
When some of the women on this list come up missing Chris makes the accusation that Aidan is the cause. It turns out that one of the "Others", the original Immortals like Seth, is the cause. Gershim hates Seth and is impersonating him to cause problems between Seth and his Immortal Guardians. Gershim has perfected his ability to shape shift into any of the guardians, including Seth, and uses every opportunity to cause strife. Gershim sets Aidan up as a murder of the missing gifted women, and Chris being gun-ho pushes the accusation home.
It will take all the Guardians working together with their human counterparts to bring Gershim to justice, and Dana must learn to trust in a man who is more than just a man.
I could not stop listening and stayed up most of the night to finish! So worth the loss of sleep!!! Kirsten Potter did a wonderful job as always!!!!

Will the real Aiden please stand up.
I have loved Aiden since he was first introduced. This book was a good as i knew it would be. I am glad Aiden finally found his match. Abby is good for him and he for her. She now has a family/friends to call her own. I felt bad for Aiden when he kept telling everyone it was not him in the videos with the missing women. But as it turns out it was just a ploy to try and turn the immortals against one another. I loved the part where Abby kicked butt when she was captured and taken to the place where the other gifted ones were. Zack did a good job planting that info in her head. I would like to see the three gifted ones in future books becoming immortals. I liked them. I have seen one person state that they could not understand how three others and two elder immortals could let Gershum out smart them. For one thing he has no scruples. He did not mind hurting/killing other to reach his goal/ get away from them. I do hope there is someway to save Cliff. I can't wait to the next book. Oh i did want to say the narrator did a great job with the voices. I just love Aiden's accent. Keep up the good work all.

We went from 0 to 1000576 in three books.
Aiden has finally received his happily ever after. When we meet Aiden he is despondent because everybody around him is finding their other half. Aiden is a 3000 year old Immortal who is going through life coasting. When we initially meet him all he he wants to do is transfer to North Carolina in order to find a Gifted One to spend the rest of his days with but Seth choses not to transfer him. So like any Immortal in the series he decides to take matters into his own hands which helps him transfer over to North Carolina.
Aiden is a special character. He has a sense of humor, sweet, loyal, and just brave. When he finally meets Dana their first encounter was interesting to say the least. I enjoyed Dana and I enjoyed the relationship that she has with Aiden. She, unlike other heroines in the series, takes a lot of the revelations about Aiden and the Immortals in stride. Yes she does freak out a bit but she accepts what is happening around her and moves forward.
The only issue that I had when it came to both Aiden and Dana is since Dana is a psychic she does not want the glimpses she sees in the future to dictate how she lives her life presently.
This book I have to say was not what I was expecting. I knew that it was going to be action-packed because the fight between Seth and Gresham is kicking up but I was not expecting half of the stuff that he ended up doing in this book. This is the first time that we have gotten his point of view and it is not the most lucid mind. Clearly there is something off with him but you can never figure out what it is. He called Seth his nemesis but yet we don't know what Seth did to him in order to be classified as such. I know Seth's book is coming up and I hope that Dianne Duvall explores why Gresham has this animosity towards Seth. It would be really interesting to find out if he is actually jealous and envious of Seth or if there is more to it
Cliff is a character who I fell in love with way back when and I really hope that there is a way to save him because every time he ends up suffering my heart hurts for him. I don't understand why he is not a gifted one. I just want to see him happy and he has found love and to find love when you are a vampire and you know that you're going to lose your mind but you keep fighting is so noble and courageous.
I don't know how the next book is going to go but I am kind of interested to see where Dianne takes it. We know things are heating up but what is Gresham going to do now? The way that this book end 12 Gifted Ones was transformed into Immortals. I need to know where they are and what is Gresham's master plan.
