Publisher's Summary

A wise and inspiring guide to creating a happy and healthy blended family by Mashonda Tifrere with contributions from her co-parents - Swizz Beatz and his wife, Grammy-Award winning singer and songwriter Alicia Keys.

In January 2010, founder of ArtLeadHer Mashonda Tifrere and music producer Swizz Beatz finalized their divorce. When Swizz married award-winning singer/songwriter Alicia Keys, a new dynamic was born - three adults who loved and were deeply committed to raising Mashonda and Swizz's four-year old son Kasseem. In Blend, Tifrere draws on the insights they gained from their journey as well as advice from family therapists, parenting experts, and other blending families, to provide an invaluable resource for blended families.

Statistics show that one in three Americans is now a step-parent, stepchild, step-sibling or other member of a blended family. The number of first time marriages or romantic relationships that end in divorce or breakups and the high percentage of remarriages and new relationships that involve children demand a unique, life-affirming approach to processing the end of one relationship and the rebirth of a new familial dynamic with the well-being of children at its center. In this book, Tifrere shares intimate details on how she and her co-parents used communication, patience and love to create an environment where they were able to work as a team and all the children involved could thrive.

Blend will inspire a generation of families.

Sister wives - Not worth your time👎

Im on chapter 10 of the book and I have to say that I'm very disappointed. I understand she left out a lot of crucial details for the sake of her son. But you can't help people if your not 💯 percent transparent. If your looking for real advise , look elsewhere👎👎👎

This book is a truly a Gift.

I just finished listening to the Blend audio book (completed it in two days), and felt deeply compelled to immediately write a review. I am 7 months pregnant with my first child, confronted with the pending reality of coparenting with my ex. While I wasn't married to my partner, the circumstances of our relationship's end were quite painful, and have felt endlessly triggering. Everyday I find myself working through wounds surrounding abandonment, unworthiness, and not-enoughness. Learning from Mashonda's experience how these truamas could adversely affect my daughter, made it clear that I must tend to them with delicate patience + persistence. Though challenging work, the peace, love, and authenticity Mashonda exudes let's me know it is well worth it. After one listen, I know Blend will be my blueprint for cultivating a harmonious family dynamic, predicated on a commitment to self-work + self-care. I'll be investing in a hardcopy so I can highlight, underline, and annotate its many gems. If you're reading, Mashonda: Thank you for your bravery, candor, and for answering the call to write this book. Blend is truly a gift to the world, and it will heal fractured families today, for the continued benefit of generations to come.

Breathtaking

This book got me into all kind of emotions and I couldn’t stop listening once I started. Tears fell out my eye as I related to my own life as a child and as a mother of two beautiful girls that are blended family potential. Thank you Mashonda for being vulnerable and sharing your truth with us. With this life manual, I pray that I create a loving family for children and everyone involved. This should be read by everyone because it covers multitude of lessons. God bless you and your family.

Close to my heart and forever cherished...

I loved this book, a lot. Mashonda has such a soothing and sweet voice, it’s so easy to listen to! I listened to some parts a few times and would pause to think of my own family and how I can move in a direction lead by only love, with the intention of designing a joyful family unit. There was so much good information in this book, lots of moments I felt called out (in the best way), and I was moved by how beautifully so many families have blended by simply releasing control and moving as a unit. This is a must read for families who must contemplate a new family design, bio and bonus parents alike!

Amazing !

I read this book because I was interested in co parenting relationship and thinking about going back to school for family sociology. Also, I continued seeing clip of Mashonda, Swizz and Alicia interviewing and promoting the book . I said to myself, what a dope Dynamics. I was happy to see them together and your felt that they were genuine. I love seeing family making it work. I love the book. I finished it in 2 days. Im not in a situation like this. But I was able to take some tips away from it to better me as a women. I wanted to thank Mashonda for this amazing testimony.
