Publisher's Summary

Some will try to trap her in hopes of harnessing her dark power. Others will seek to end her, deeming it too terrible to risk. In the end, he will destroy them all - because Quinn is his weapon, and he plans to keep it that way.

Lazarus was warned that Quinn's power might be too great, even for him, but nothing prepared him for the truth of it until she held a dagger over him, and he was powerless to stop it. Now at odds with himself, the future king of Norcasta must find a way to regain control of his house and secure an alliance with the Pirate Queen...before fate tips its hand once more, and his carefully laid plans are led astray.

Quinn's loyalty is not easily won, but Lazarus has managed to do it. Now, the vassal and right-hand of Lord Fierte, Quinn seeks to gain him an alliance with Ilvas all the while challenging him at every turn. With the Cisean tribes won over, and the blood heirs behind them, Quinn expects this to be an easy task, but soon finds herself entangled in a web of lies.

Forced to gamble with her life - and the lives of her comrades - Quinn must make a choice that will either save or doom them all.

Contains mature themes.

Exciting Sequel

I'm loving this series more and more! The second book in the DARK MAJI series is full of action, new characters, adventure, secrets, and drama. It's got a great cast, awesome writing, and a fun plot.

Quinn and her new "friends" continue to look for allies in a pirate city, hoping to help Lazarus as he seeks to gain his throne. As a conspiracy and strange happenings befall them, both Quinn and Lazarus find their powers--and patience with one another--tested.

I still love the bickering and tension between Quinn and Lazarus. They have an intense undeniable chemistry, even as they struggle to learn how to trust each other. Watching Quinn learn to build relationships and care about the people around her was just as rewarding as seeing her fight and use her magic. Lazarus has some dark secrets that I can't wait to see come into play. Also, I am loving the new side characters and the depth of the more familiar ones.

The plot is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. The action scenes are great, the setting is creative, and the writing remains solid. There are some tense moments and a good deal of drama to keep the stakes raised.

I'm still loving this series and can't wait to see where the next book takes our heroes!

Her voice.

The voice actress is great when it comes to conversations in the book, but when she is talking she tends to end her sentences in an upward lilt that make her sound like she's asking a question instead. It's driving me bonkers.. but I'm invested in the story soooo. To the next!!

It’s okay a bit predictable and slow

The premise is there but I’ve now finished two books but not much considerable has actually happened. This book was very predictable and the slow burn is moving at a snail’s pace.

I would keep reading but it’s just a little too slow for me to justify buying the other books!
