Publisher's Summary

When New York City's Mayor is desperate to find his missing daughter, Detective Michael Bennett steps in to help the Mayor and strike a deal to save his son in prison.

Bennett and the mayor have always had a tense relationship, but now the mayor sees in Bennett a discreet investigator with family worries of his own. Just one father helping another.

The detective leaps into the case and sources lead him to a homicide in the Bronx. The victim has ties to a sophisticated hacking operation - and also to the mayor's missing daughter, Natalie, a 21-year-old computer prodigy. The murder is part of a serial killing spree, one with national security implications. And suddenly Bennett is at the center of a dangerous triangle anchored by NYPD, FBI, and a transnational criminal organization.

Michael Bennett has always been an honorable man, but sometimes - when the lives of innocents are at stake - honor has to take a back seat. Survival comes first.

Thumbs up.

At 10 hours long it seems very short compared to the 17-19 hour long books I’ve been listening to. Other than that it’s great.

Dedicated detective who never forgets his family

I have read all Michael Bennett books. Always excited when Patterson announces a new book. The Michael Bennett and Women’s Murder Club series; I’ll never miss the downloads. As usual, there is mystery, action, family love and devotion. What more can I ask for in a book.

Terrible narrator, boring story

Don’t waste your time and money on this one. I can’t believe James Patterson would put his name on this.

Very disappointing!

I was very disappointed by this book. I'm sorry I purchased it. The story line was weak and very predictable. It was just a shoot them up sappy story with no real intrigue at all. I didn't even care about finishing it and would not have except I actually paid for this disappointing book!

Please take some time in developing your plot.

This was really sophomoric. These Patterson books get worse all the time. I guess part of it is the publisher contracts and money, but speaking of money: it's time for me to quit wasting mine. 1 book a year produced fantastic stories. 2 still gave us good plots and story development. Sad evolution.

Michael Bennett is the Best

James Patterson does not disappoint when it comes to Detective Michael Bennett. I have had the pleasure of reading and listening to all Det. Bennett books. I have Multiple Sclerosis and I can't read books anymore due to my eyesight issues, but listening to these books are a great pleasure to me. I absolutely love Audible. I live in Newburgh, NY, and the fact that James Patterson lived here and put that into the Detective Michael Bennett's history is just Amazing. I find that the author has run out of storyline's to tell regarding Alex Cross books, but not with Detective Michael Bennett! Truly a great listen. The narrator is as always been Awesome. The Audible account is in my Husband's name, but I'm the one who listens to the books. My name is Wendy. Thank you Mr. Patterson for another wonderful listen.

Book sucks

This was not James Patterson! Stilted, too many “chapters”. A little like a Marlow detective from the 40’s. I will never read another with Patterson as a co-writer
