Publisher's Summary

The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimirs Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them . . . including Dimitri.

He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?

accents horrible

the story is great, the reading isnt the greastest as they attempt to use different accents and there is background music that really takes away from the plot. but you eventually get used to it.

Ugh bad accents

Absolutely HATE when they try to do Dimitri's Russian accent. Every reader I've heard has done it terribly, last book at least they just read it with no accent which was the absolute best choice. So distracting, so badly done, so unnecessary 😒 and after you hear Dimitris terrible voicing you think, okay, okay, that's bad, but okay. I'll deal. Hopefully they don't do it next book. BUT THEN! You hear Adrian's accent! It is THE WORST impression of a British accent I've ever heard! Also, where in the previous books does it mention he's British? Did I miss that? Either way, not good. Really hope this reader goes forward knowing not to do accents ever again, I'm sounding really mean but doesn't anyone give feedback during the reading process? Someone should have broken it gently that these accents are not good.

Was heart wrenching & suspenseful

Even though this was a reread it’s been long enough I have forgotten some of the plot exactly and so this was like reading it for the first time and I just couldn’t see what was coming 😭 I couldn’t even sleep just kept listening now have to wait a whole month for the next one!!

Story good, accents bad

For the most part this book was well narrated until the narrator attempts a British accent. I had read other reviews saying that all of the accents were bad, but I don’t find that accurate, just the British one is off putting. Otherwise, entertaining story and I look forward to listening to the rest of the series.

Don’t like the different voices

The first book has a different voice for Demetry, second and third book all voices were the same.

Worth Every Penny!

Each and every book in this series is just as good as the last. I bought the next books halfway into every one.
