Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author J. R. Ward returns with an all-new tale of paranormal passion in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood continues to train the best of the best to join them in the deadly battle against the Lessening Society. Among the new recruits, Axe proves to be a cunning and vicious fighter - and also a loner isolated because of personal tragedy. When an aristocratic female needs a bodyguard, Axe takes the job, though he's unprepared for the animal attraction that flares between him and the one he is sworn to protect.

For Elise, who lost her first cousin to a grisly murder, Axe's dangerous appeal is enticing - and possibly a distraction from her grief. But as they delve deeper into her cousin's death, and their physical connection grows into so much more, Axe fears that the secrets he keeps and his tortured conscience will tear them apart.

Rhage, the Brother with the biggest heart, knows all about self-punishing, and he wants to help Axe reach his full potential. But when an unexpected arrival threatens Rhage and Mary's new family, he finds himself back in the trenches again, fighting against a destiny that will destroy all he holds most dear.

As Axe's past becomes known, and fate seems to be turning against Rhage, both males must reach deep - and pray that love, rather than anger, will be their lantern in the darkness.

Another great listen from Ward.

A great mix of hot romance, action and humor, uniting the newest characters in the BDB world with a few of my favorites.

SIMPLY OUTSTANDING - NEVER A DULL MOMENT &..

I never have to read the synopsis of the book because, when it comes to J.R. Ward's BDB, I never have to question my decision of auto buying it, I never have any doubts that it's going to be an exciting and well-written listen that'll evoke all the feels, I never have to doubt that much loved and new characters will enthral me, I never have to doubt that Jim Frangione's narration will be great.. and I never have to doubt that there will be one hell of a good romance too. But any fan of hers already knows this by now.

Worth a credit? I never have to doubt that either.. YES.

Another winner for JR Ward

This is book 2 in the spin off of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This book was fantastic. It kept me glued to my seat. I love the way she has other stories going on at the same time. This book has it all lots of action, love and humor. Ax finds his true love among the very type of people that let his father die. Elise is nothing like the culture of people she was in. They are not affectionate, they look down upon others. She and Ax and even her cousin Peyton all learn that sometimes you have to trust. Rhage and Mary have to go through fear of losing the child they want to adopt but all works out in the end. They have all the support from their "family". These books are must to either read or listen too. I can't wait to the next book.

Ward Does It Again....Again.... Again....

.... Loved It! Can't get enough of the BDB/BDL series!

If I had to choose just one author to listen too (or read), it would undoubtedly be J.R. Ward with no reservations, hesitations or doubts. She is freaking awesome and has exceptional world building skills . I LOVE all her stories and the BDB and BDL are two of my favorite series. Ward always delivers a well written, well developed story with multiple plots and POV's, and writes it so it's easy to follow, and you never feel lost. Few authors are able to pull off what Ward does effortlessly, and Blood Vow was no exception.

True to Ward's style, Blood Vow tells the love story of Axe and Elise, and heartbreaking battle Rhage and Mary go through to hang onto their family. It's like getting two stories in one. New characters are introduced, while our favorite characters make an appearance and we get a different perspective to the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. A solid follow up to book one in the BDL series, and another hit for Ward!

When I first started listening to this series, I was not all that fond of Jim Frangione's performance. In past performances, I thought his narration was a little flat and monotone at times but WOW did he ever blow me away with his performance in Blood Vow!!! He's really fine tuned his narrating skills, and did an amazing job with the wide cast of characters giving each their own voice and making it easy to distinguish between them. What I admired most about his performance was how he delivered all the different emotions. As he narrated each scene, he really brought me right into the story, and I could feel all the different emotions the characters were experiencing from despair, angst, longing, frustration to love and many more. I loved his performance. Kudos!

Ward's stories are always captivating, well developed and on the longer side, but as the saying goes "time flies when you're having fun", and this 14 hour audio was over way before I wanted it to end! I can't wait for the next BDB! For any BDB fans, this was well worth the time and credit!

Loving the BDB Spin Off Series!

Oh how I love this world and the Legacy series is such a great new side of the BDB stories and still gives us a BDB fix! I'm loving the new characters, they are all very different and I love these seriously strong female characters! JR Ward is doing an amazing job with such different characters but all in the same world. I think one of my favorite things about this book was Lasiter, he is really stepping up for what I think will be his new role ;) Can't wait for the next book and sad it'll be a year before I get the next chapter for the training center recruits.

Really Enjoying the New Recruits

I really enjoyed the story. Jim Frangione does such a good job with the narration and I'm becoming more and more invested in the new group of recruits. I can't for Peyton and Novo (sp?) story.

My only minor quibble is that it's kind of a pet peeve of mine when the male character does something that is clearly wrong (like outright lying) but then acts like the affronted party because the female character gets upset. Just once I'd like to see a male character fully acknowledge he screwed up and give a heartfelt and sincere apology. In this case the heroine apologized to HIM after he lied to her and it kinda ticked me off. Other than that small issue I was fully on board the whole time. Can't wait for the next book.

Good story, so-so narration.

Narration was like listening to a news caster or radio talk show host going over current events.

Ok, but not the best, by far

This newest installment seemed to be a repeat of the first book, in this spin-off series;but less. It did have a dual plot with Mary and Rhage and that may have caused the problem. Due to the fact that there were two plots, neither plot seemed complete. I guess I also thought that there would be more of relationship develop between Axe and Rhage; based on the summary. I guess that if I had to summarize my review in one word, that word would be "lacking". It lacked the excitement, the drama, and the emotional connections.

comparatively short

Individually, the two storylines were interesting. They didn't dovetail enough. This book feels more like two novellas forced into one book.

Entertaining but It's NOT BDB

I like the series so far and it's entertaining but I haven't found any really compelling, complex characters so far. I'll keep reading in hopes that she will create a new 'Butch', 'Rage', or 'Vicious'
