too many subplots. I've had a problem with the story of this book from the first of the trilogy, but then I started fast forwarding through everything involving Arling and Alphen.

There's so many points in this book that contradict stuff that was established earlier, and just thinking about that made me miss Terry Brooks earlier stuff.
